We exploit the electronic Kerr effect that enables switching of the cavity faster than all relevant time scales. We employ the virtually instantaneous electronic Kerr effect to repeatedly and reproducibly switch a GaAs-AlAs planar microcavity made by MBE growth that operates in the telecom O-band (λ=1300 nm).

Graphene is proving to be an efficient medium for the control of mm-wave/THz radiation. Its electrical and dielectric properties allows it to be incorporated into various existing device architectures. One such application is in the modulation of the amplitude of the propagating THz radiation. Due to its electrical properties this interaction is typically broadband in nature. To make this frequency selective we propose the use of metamaterials or frequency selective surfaces. Generally, these structures per...
All-optical switching of a microcavity repeated at terahertz rates

We have repeatedly and reproducibly switched a GaAs-AlAs planar microcavity operating in the "original" telecom band by exploiting the virtually instantaneous electronic Kerr effect. We achieve repetition times as fast as 300 fs, thereby breaking the terahertz modulation barrier. The rate of the switching in our experiments is only determined by optics and not by material-related relaxation. Our results offer opportunities for fundamental studies of cavity quantum electrodynamics and optical information pro...
Analytical calculation of collapse voltage of CMUT membrane

Because the collapse voltage determines the operating point of the capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (CMUT), it is crucial to calculate and control this parameter. One approach uses parallel plate approximation, where a parallel plate motion models the average membrane displacement. This usually yields calculated collapse voltage 25 percent higher than the actual collapse voltage. More accurate calculation involves finite element method (FEM) analysis. However, depending on the required accurac...
Multilayer graphene growth on polar dielectric substrates using chemical vapour deposition
KARAMAT, SHUMAİLA; Celik, K.; Zaman, S. Shah; Oral, Ahmet (Elsevier BV, 2018-06-01)
High quality of graphene is necessary for its applications at industrial scale production. The most convenient way is its direct growth on dielectrics which avoid the transfer route of graphene from metal to dielectric substrate usually followed by graphene community. The choice of a suitable dielectric for the gate material which can replace silicon dioxide (SiO2) is in high demand. Various properties like permittivity, thermodynamic stability, film morphology, interface quality, bandgap and band alignment...
RADIATIVE TRANSITIONS OF NON-STRANGE DOUBLY HEAVY OCTET BARYONS TO DECUPLET BARYONS
Aşkan, Emre; Özpineci, Altuğ; Alıyev, Tahmasıb; Department of Physics (2022-9-2)
Electromagnetic form factors for transitions are studied through years using various methods. In this work, we calculated the electromagnetic form factors for the radiative decays of non-strange octet baryons to decuplet baryons in the QCD Sum Rules framework at $q^2=0$ up to twist-4. Calculation of the correlation function and the analysis of the results performed using Wolfram Mathematica 12.0.0 Software.
