A FIRST COURSE IN ANALYSIS - Introductory Calculus

This book has been prepared in accordance with the programs of Basic Mathematics I, Analysis I or Calculus I courses which are taught at the undergraduate level of the Faculties of Science and Engineering as well as the Faculties of Economics and Administrative Sciences. The book covers brief descriptions of the theorems, and focusses particularly on exercises with their solutions. While these exercises support the relevant topics and theorems, they are prepared to support the readers on related courses and help them prepare for exams. The content of the book is as follows: The concepts of limit and continuity for functions of one (real) variable, derivative and differentiability, applications of derivative, optimization problems, inverse-derivative concept and sketching graphs of functions.

Introductory Mechanics of Deformable Bodies
Canbay, Erdem; Ersoy, Uğur (ODTÜ Yayıncılık, 2008-06-01)
The present book covers the basic syllabus of the Strength of Materials course as taught in the Civil Engineering Department of Middle East Technical University. In the later chapters, however, some overlapping with the contents of the course entitled Introduction to Structural Mechanics has been unavoidable. The mechanics of deformable bodies, traditionally known as strength of materials, is a stimulating subject. The laws of equilibrium, familiar from statics, are tempered not only by the constraint...
Kara Bardakcı, Elif; Taneri, Pervin Oya; Department of Educational Sciences (2021-9-30)
This research aims to discuss the feasibility of integrating interdisciplinary studies into education in the fields of science and mathematics at the high school level and possible barriers to the integration of these studies into the education system. In order to collect data, document analysis and informal observation were made, semi- structured interviews were designed. Interview questions consist of two parts. In the first part, demographic information; in the second part, the feasibility of interdiscip...
An Introduction to Computational Finance
Uğur, Ömür (Imperial College Press, 2009-01-01)
Although there are several publications on similar subjects, this book mainly focuses on pricing of options and bridges the gap between Mathematical Finance and Numerical Methodologies. The author collects the key contributions of several monographs and selected literature, values and displays their importance, and composes them here to create a work which has its own characteristics in content and style. This invaluable book provides working Matlab codes not only to implement the algorithms presented in t...
Stochastic delay differential equations
Aladağlı, E. Ezgi; Yolcu Okur, Yeliz; Vardar Acar, Ceren; Department of Financial Mathematics (2017)
In many areas of science like physics, ecology, biology, economics, engineering, financial mathematics etc. phenomenas do not show their effect immediately at the moment of their occurrence. Generally, they influence the future states. In order to understand the structure and quantitative behavior of such systems, stochastic delay differential equations (SDDEs) are constructed while inserting the information that are obtained from the past phenomena into the stochastic differential equations (SDEs). SDDEs b...
Analyzing the determinants of R&D, its impact on productivity and efficiency of firms in the Turkish Manufacturing Industry
Kalaycı, Elif; Pamukcu, Mehmet Teoman; Department of Science and Technology Policy Studies (2012)
This dissertation consists of three papers revolving around economics of R&D. The first paper analyzes the determinants of R&D expenditures with specific focus on foreign ownership and spillovers; the second paper studies the impact of R&D on productivity and the third paper analyzes whether conducting R&D enables Turkish manufacturing firms to catch up with sector leaders as far as their productivity levels are concerned. The first contribution of the thesis is the use of newly available data from Turkish ...
