Coaxial electrospinning of composite mats comprised of core/shell poly(methyl methacrylate)/silk fibroin fibers for tissue engineering applications
Atila, Deniz; HASIRCI, Vasıf Nejat; Tezcaner, Ayşen (2022-04-01)
© 2022 Elsevier LtdMimicking extracellular matrix (ECM) of native tissue by tissue-engineered constructs is critical to induce regeneration of the damaged site. In this study, coaxial electrospinning of core/shell poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)/silk fibroin (SF) fibers was optimized for the first time to provide ECM-like microenvironment for new tissue formation by utilization of a new collector design for obtaining homogeneously deposited mats from the collector screen. SF-shell was produced to increase ...
Coaxial silver nanowire network core molybdenum oxide shell supercapacitor electrodes
Yuksel, Recep; Coskun, Sahin; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah (Elsevier BV, 2016-03-01)
We present a new hybrid material composed of molybdenum (IV) oxide (MoO2) shell on highly conducting silver nanowire (Ag NW) core in the network form for the realization of coaxial Ag NW/MoO2 nanocomposite supercapacitor electrodes. Ag NWs were simply spray coated onto glass substrates to form conductive networks and conformal MoO2 layer was electrodeposited onto the Ag NW network to create binder-free coaxial supercapacitor electrodes. Combination of Ag NWs and pseudocapacitive MoO2 generated an enhanced e...
Coaxial silver nanowire/polypyrrole nanocomposite supercapacitors
YÜKSEL, Recep; ALPUGAN, Ece; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah (2018-01-01)
Three-dimensional (3D) core-shell silver nanowire (Ag NW) -polypyrrole (PPy) nanocomposites are used for the fabrication of supercapacitors. In-situ chemical polymerization of PPy onto Ag NWs results in the formation of diameter tunable, coaxial and 3D nanocomposites. Inner Ag NW core facilitates the charge transfer and PPy shell shows a remarkably high pseudocapacitance. Fabricated Ag NW/PPy nanocomposite has a specific capacitance of 509 F g(-1) at a current density of 0.31 A g(-1), while the energy and p...
Coaxial Copper Nanowire Network Core—Polypyrrole Shell Nanocomposites as Supercapacitor Electrodes
Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah; Durukan, Mete Batuhan (null; 2018-11-25)
Metallic nanowires hold significant potential to be used in energy storage devices, such as batteries and supercapacitors due to their high surface area and electrical conductivity. Among metallic nanowires, silver nanowires so far dominated the literature due to their reproducible, controllable and large scale synthesis. Copper nanowires on the other hand are still at their infancy; but, hold strong promise to replace silver nanowires due to their comparable optoelectronic properties and low cost. In this ...
Collagen Based Multilayer Scaffolds for Meniscus Tissue Engineering: In Vivo Test Results. Biomater Med Appl 2: 1
Albana Ndreu, Halili; Karahan, Siyami; Kürüm, Barış; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat (2018-04-01)
Meniscus is an important component of the knee joint since it performs several crucial functions such as shock absorption, load bearing and transmission, maintenance of joint stability, and lubrication. The results of common meniscal injury repair approaches are not fully satisfactory with low mechanical properties and long regeneration times. A 3D collagen-based construct consisting of multilayers of lyophilized sponges separated by electrospun fibrous mats was prepared previously to serve as a substitute ...
