Multi directional hysteretic damper with adaptive post-elastic stiffness for seismic protection of bridges in near fault zones
Dicleli, Murat (2010-07-15)
A new hysteretic damper for seismic protection of highway bridges is presented. The Multidirectional Torsional Hysteretic Damper (MTHD) works based on torsional yielding of steel cylindrical cores. The device demonstrates a hyperbolic post-elastic stiffness as a result of its special working mechanism which produces this geometric hardening effect. The post-elastic stiffness was found to be effective in limiting the lateral displacement of the seismic-isolated bridge decks in near-fault. Results of nonlinea...
Multi-band metamaterial absorber topology for infrared frequency regime
Mulla, Batuhan; Sabah, Cumali (2017-02-01)
In this paper, a new multiband metamaterial absorber design is proposed and the numerical characterization is carried out. The design is composed of three layers with differently sized quadruplets in which the interaction among them causes the multiband absorption response in the infrared frequency regime. In order to characterize the absorber. and explain the multiband topology, some parametric studies with respect to the dimensions of the structure are carried out and the contributions of the quadruplets ...

Multi-colored electrochromic polymer with enhanced optical contrast
Tarkuc, Simge; Unver, Elif Kose; Udum, Yasemin Arslan; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2010-11-01)
A new it-conjugated monomer was synthesized which contains an electron-donating unit 3 4-ethylenedioxythiophene and electron withdrawing quinoxaline-based heterocycle to examine the effects of imine unit on the optoelectronic and redox properties of the resulting polymer Electroactivity of monomer and electrochemical redox behavior of its polymer were investigated by cyclic voltammetry An irreversible anodic wave at +0 85 V vs Ag wire reference electrode corresponding to the monomer oxidation was observed S...
