Size influence on the sealing performance of cementitious borehole plugs.
Akgün, Haluk; Daemen, J.j.k.;( Abstracts: Hydraulic conductivity tests were performed on expansive mixes of ideal class A cement plugs cast in basalt blocks and in steel pipes. Plug diameters range from 25 mm (1 inch) to 200 mm (8 inches), with most of the tests reported performed on plugs in the upper end of this range (150 mm (6 inch) and over). Cement curing temperatures were monitored, as well as pipe strains induced by cement swelling. As a result of the (unintentional) block fracturing, it became possible to study the hydraulic conductivity of the fractured, bypass flowpaths around the plugs.; 1986-01-01)
