We propose to use plasmonic modes in periodically patterned metal-insulator-metal structures to enhance emission from Erbium doped Silicon Nitride. Enhancement of emission up to a factor of 2.3 is experimentally demonstrated.

Palladium nanoparticles supported on chemically derived graphene: An efficient and reusable catalyst for the dehydrogenation of ammonia borane
Metin, Onder; Kayhan, Emine; Özkar, Saim; Schneider, Jorg J. (2012-05-01)
Chemically derived graphene (CDG) was prepared by hydrazine hydrate reduction of graphene oxide and used as support for palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs) generated ex situ with controllable particle size and dispersion. The Pd NPs supported on CDG were well characterized by using a combination of advance analytical techniques and employed as catalyst in the dehydrogenation and hydrolysis of ammonia borane (AB) in organic solvents and aqueous solutions, respectively. Monodisperse Pd NPs of 4.5 nm were prepare...
Adsorption of RuSex (x=1-5) cluster on Se-doped graphene: First principle calculations
AKTÜRK, OLCAY ÜZENGİ; Tomak, Mehmet (2015-08-30)
We have investigated the adsorption of RuSex (x =1-5) cluster on Se-doped graphene. The change of the adsorption energy with the number of Se atoms and magnetization values are investigated. Electronic properties of adsorption of RuSex (x =1-5) cluster on Se-doped graphene are investigated. The highest adsorption energy belongs to RuSe adsorbate. The biggest magnetization value belongs to RuSe2 adsorbate. This adsorbate makes the substrate half metallic. This property is important in electronic device appli...
Quantum emitter interacting with graphene coating in the strong-coupling regime
Gunay, Mehmet; Karanikolas, Vasilios; ŞAHİN, RAMAZAN; Ovali, Rasim Volga; Bek, Alpan; TAŞGIN, MEHMET EMRE (2020-04-14)
We demonstrate the strong coupling of a quantum dot and a graphene spherical shell coating it. Our simulations are based on solutions of three-dimensional Maxwell equations, using a boundary element method approach. Interaction between the nanostructures produces sharp hybrid modes, even when the two are off-resonant. The coupling of the light to these "very sharp" plexcitonic resonances is an order of magnitude larger than its coupling to a quantum dot, and they are voltage tunable (continuously) in an 80-...
Nonlinear optical properties of low temperature annealed silicon-rich oxide and silicon-rich nitride materials for silicon photonics
Minissale, S.; Yerci, Selçuk; Dal Negro, L. (2012-01-09)
We investigate the nonlinear optical properties of Si-rich silicon oxide (SRO) and Si-rich silicon nitride (SRN) samples as a function of silicon content, annealing temperature, and excitation wavelength. Using the Z-scan technique, we measure the non-linear refractive index n(2) and the nonlinear absorption coefficient beta for a large number of samples fabricated by reactive co-sputtering. Moreover, we characterize the nonlinear optical parameters of SRN in the broad spectral region 1100-1500 nm and show ...
Plasmonic-photonic arrays with aperiodic spiral order for ultra-thin film solar cells
Trevino, Jacob; Forestiere, Carlo; Dİ MARTİNO, Giuliana; Yerci, Selçuk; Priolo, Francesco; Dal Negro, Luca (2012-05-07)
We report on the design, fabrication and measurement of ultrathin film Silicon On Insulator (SOI) Schottky photo-detector cells with nanostructured plasmonic arrays, demonstrating broadband enhanced photocurrent generation using aperiodic golden angle spiral geometry. Both golden angle spiral and periodic arrays of various center-to-center particle spacing were investigated to optimize the photocurrent enhancement. The primary photocurrent enhancement region is designed for the spectral range 600nm-950nm, w...
