Line Current Analysis for Bearing fault Detection In Induction Motors Using Hilbert Transform Phase
Oumaamar, M. E. K.; Razik, H.; Rezzoug, A.; Khezzar, A. (2011-09-10)
The present paper focuses by means of an experimental study, on the effect of a bearing fault on the stator current signatures in induction motors. The variation in the amplitude of the characteristic components is not so significant. For that and in order to depict the presence of the fault harmonic signatures, the authors used the phase analysis of Hilbert transform applied on the spectrum modulus of the line current.
Panel zone deformation demands in steel moment resisting frames
Tuna, Mehmet; Topkaya, Cem (2015-07-01)
Energy is dissipated by yielding at beam ends in steel moment resisting frames subjected to earthquakes. In addition, the column panel zone can be proportioned to participate in energy dissipation. AISC360, Eurocode 3, and FEMA-355D specifications have different philosophies for the design of panel zones which lead to different amounts of deformation demands. This paper presents a numerical study undertaken to quantify the deformation demands in panel zones proportioned according to different specifications...
Detached eddy simulation using a high order low dissipation low dispersion computational method for aeroacoustic purposes
Cengiz, Kenan; Özyörük, Yusuf (2015-09-10)
A compressible flow solver designed for determining aeroacoustic source mechanisms is being developed. Capturing the 3-D unsteady turbulent structures is particularly crucial to address quadrapole sources around a solid body. For this purpose, a detached-eddy simulation (DES) method is proposed which is intended to obtain turbulence with acceptable computational costs. Despite the fact that DES is originally designed for separated flows at high Reynolds numbers, recent improvements has made it capable of a ...
Detached Eddy simulation of turbulent flow on 2D hybrid grids
Yırtıcı, Özcan; Uzol, Oğuz; Tuncer, İsmail Hakkı; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2012)
In this thesis study, Detached Eddy Simulation turbulence model is studied in two dimension mainly for flow over single element airfoils in high Reynolds numbers to gain experience with model before applying it to a three dimensional simulations. For this aim, Spalart-Allmaras and standard DES ,DES97, turbulence models are implemented to parallel, viscous, hybrid grid flow solver. The flow solver ,Set2d, is written in FORTRAN language. The Navier-Stokes equations are discretized by first order accurately ce...
Ring Beam Stiffness Criterion for Column-Supported Metal Silos
Topkaya, Cem (American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), 2011-12-01)
Cylindrical metal silos are commonly elevated to provide access space beneath to directly discharge the contained materials into transportation systems. Evenly spaced column supports are commonly utilized. In larger silos, the discrete forces from supports are more evenly transferred and distributed into the cylindrical shell wall by using a ring beam. A fundamental assumption in the design of the silo shell is that the meridional compressive stresses are relatively uniformly distributed around the circumfe...
