A Formal representation of building codes to facilitate BIM-based automated code-checking
Akbaş, Yiğit Semih; Akçamete Güngör, Aslı; Department of Civil Engineering (2019)
Building designs need to be checked against related building codes and regulations. This control is mainly a manual process done by government professionals. Therefore, it takes enormous amount of time and may lead to many errors. A more sophisticated system is required for checking building codes and regulations. Automated code-checking systems and tools can be used to aid this process with the help of Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools and these systems are started to be used for efficient design c...

A Standard Expert System For Weapon Target Assignment Problem
Sahin, M. Alper; Leblebicioğlu, Mehmet Kemal (2009-07-16)
Weapon target assignment (WTA) problem is the problem of assigning weapons to targets with the objective of minimizing the expected damage of targets. In this work, a standard expert system is proposed for the particular WTA problem. The idea is to build expert system using grid partitioning over a training set The proposed system is implemented and tested with a number of randomly generated WTA instances. The proposed system has a satisfactory performance.
A decision support system for value for money analysis of minimum revenue guaranteed road projects
Tekin, Zeki Emre; Sönmez, Rifat; Department of Civil Engineering (2018)
Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects have ability to fund themselves when investments generate sufficient revenue. However, commercial revenues except collected tolls are limited in road projects. On the other hand, demand uncertainty creates concerns regarding toll revenues and governments generally provide Minimum Revenue Guarantee (MRG) to make road PPPs feasible and attractive for private sector. If optimum level of MRG are not assessed during preparation stage and required funds are not allocated ...
A reference model for BIM capability assessments
Yilmaz, Gokcen; Akçamete Güngör, Aslı; DEMİRÖRS, ONUR (2019-05-01)
Various BIM capability and maturity models have been developed to assist architecture, engineering, construction and facilities management (AEC/FM) organizations in measuring the performance of their BIM utilizations. Due to differences in applicability and focus of these models, they are able to meet the demands of different BIM users. In this study, eight BIM capability and maturity models identified in the literature are compared based on several different criteria. The results show that there is no holi...
