Glass Forming Ability and Magnetic Properties of Fe36Ni36B19.2Si4.8Nb4-xMx (M = Cu, Zr, Ti, Y, Pt) Bulk Glassy Alloys Fabricated by Suction Casting
Kirimli, Handan Engin; Sarlar, Kagan; Konuk, A. Oguz; DUMAN, Nagehan; Akdeniz, Mahmut Vedat; Kucuk, Ilker (2013-05-01)
In this study, the effects of Cu, Zr, Ti, Y, Pt substitution for Nb additions on the stability and magnetic properties of Fe-Ni-based bulk metallic glass (BMG) alloys fabricated by the suction casting method are investigated. The saturation magnetization (J(s)) and coercivity (H-c) for as-cast Fe36Ni36B19.2Si4.8Nb4-xMx (M = Cu, Ti) BMG alloys were in the range of 0.51 T-0.55 T and 76-779 A/m, respectively. Differential scanning calorimetry curves show that the Fe36Ni36B19.2Si4.8Nb4-xMx (M = Cu, Ti) bulk met...
Glass fiber reinforced sealants for solid oxide fuel cells
Timurkutluk, Bora; Altan, Tolga; Celik, Selahattin; Timurkutluk, Cigdem; PALACI, Yüksel (Elsevier BV, 2019-07-05)
Novel sealants for solid oxide fuel cells are developed by addition of glass fiber into glass ceramic as a reinforcement material. Various sealants including three different fiberglass types and four different structural designs are fabricated. The mechanical and sealing performances of the sealants are investigated via tensile and short stack leakage tests, respectively. The tensile tests reveal that the fracture strength of the sealants varies depending on the type and number of the glass fiber used. In g...
Foam characterization : bubble size and texture effects
Eren, Tuna; Özbayoğlu, Mehmet Evren; Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering (2004)
Foam is one of the most frequently used multiphase fluids in underbalanced drilling operations because of its high carrying capacity of cuttings, compressibility property, formation fluid influx handling, etc. Foam rheology has been studied for many years. Researchers tried to explain foam behaviour by using conventional methods, i.e., determining rheological parameters of pre-defined rheological models like Power law, Bingham Plastic etc., as a function of gas ratio. However, it is known that bubble size a...
Transparent high-data-rate optical transmission through broadband hitless bypass switches for chip-scale optical networks
Aras, Mehmet Sirin; Biberman, Alex; Ophir, Noam; stein, aaron; Kocaman, Serdar; chatterjee, rohit; Yu, Mingbin; Kwong, DimLee; bergman, keren; Wong, Chee Wei (2010-05-21)
We demonstrate 10-Gb/s optical data channels through broadband hitless switches, with open eye-diagrams and error-free operation (BERs less than 10−12). Both through- and drop-ports are measured in the hitless operation for transparent chip-scale optical networks.
