We demonstrate 10-Gb/s optical data channels through broadband hitless switches, with open eye-diagrams and error-free operation (BERs less than 10−12). Both through- and drop-ports are measured in the hitless operation for transparent chip-scale optical networks.

Circular arrays of log-periodic antennas for broadband applications
Ergül, Özgür Salih (2006-11-10)
Circular arrays of log-periodic (LP) antennas are designed for broadband applications. A sophisticated electromagnetic simulation environment involving integral equations and fast solvers is developed to analyze the LP arrays both accurately and efficienuy. The resulting matrix equation obtained by the discretization of the electric field integral equation is solved iteratively via the multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA). Genetic algorithms interacting with MLFMA is employed to optimize the excitati...
Scheduling algorithms for wireless cdma networks
Hakyemez, Serkan Ender; Schmidt, Şenan Ece; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2007)
In recent years the need for multimedia packet data services in wireless networks has grown rapidly. To overcome that need third generation (3G) mobile services have been proposed. The fast growing demands multimedia services in 3G services brought the need for higher capacity. As a result of this, the improvement on throughput, traffic serving performance has become necessary in 3G systems. Code division multiple access (CDMA) technique is one of the most important 3G wireless mobile techniques that has be...
Inter-satellite optical communication networks: RF fading diversity for higher spectral efficiency
Şahin, Asaf Behzat; Kurnaz, S (2005-06-11)
Revolutionary developments in semiconductors lead to efficient deployment of lasers and photodetectors, thus enabling optical transmission of data signals, whether in fiber optic links or free space. Line of sight transmission characteristic of optics ensures the security of the data. With the incessant increase in the numbers of satellites and the data payload required to handle, it is inevitable that in the future we will see a shift towards optical networking, especially in the earth orbiting satellites....
Implementation of stanag 428 hf modem software on tms320c54x digital signal processor
Örümlü, Erhan; Baykal, Buyurman; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2004)
In this research, STANAG 4285 HF modem software is implemented on TMS320C54x fixed point digital signal processor. The software is optimized in order to meet real-time operation requirements. A fractionally spaced least mean square (LMS) decision feedback equalizer (DFE) is employed for the receiver. In order to improve the convergence of the LMS algorithm a multipass technique is utilized. Based on Watterson̕s model, an HF channel simulator is employed for evaluating the performance of the modem. The simul...
Broadband RF Communication System Design for Smart Houses including Wi-Fi and 5G
Çelik, Feza Turgay (2019-01-01)
In this study, a broadband antenna system with filter structures is designed. The design is proposed for smart houses. The system covering 3G, Wi-Fi and 5G frequency bands can handle for different applications by the distributed filtering approach. The proposed prototype utilizes one antenna for different applications by using three filtering structures and power dividers. The simulations are done on HFSS and AWR for the antenna and filter designs, respectively. The prototypes are produced and S-11 paramete...
