Glass fiber reinforced sealants for solid oxide fuel cells
Timurkutluk, Bora; Altan, Tolga; Celik, Selahattin; Timurkutluk, Cigdem; PALACI, Yüksel (Elsevier BV, 2019-07-05)
Novel sealants for solid oxide fuel cells are developed by addition of glass fiber into glass ceramic as a reinforcement material. Various sealants including three different fiberglass types and four different structural designs are fabricated. The mechanical and sealing performances of the sealants are investigated via tensile and short stack leakage tests, respectively. The tensile tests reveal that the fracture strength of the sealants varies depending on the type and number of the glass fiber used. In g...
Cement production by cement-bonded wood particleboard wastes
Yilmaz, Mustafa; Tokyay, Mustafa; Yaman, İsmail Özgür (2016-01-01)
To improve the sustainability of cement and concrete production, there is an increasing trend towards using industrial wastes throughout their production processes. The aim is to find new resources that can be used in any step of cement and concrete production and to find solutions to many problems related to the disposal of wastes. This article discusses the use of wastes generated from cement-bonded wood particle board (CB) manufacturing in cement production. CB waste, which basically contains wood chips ...

Architecture Taking Shape Between Nature and Culture: The Primitive Hut as a Man-Made Creation
Topçuoğlu, Feyza (2022-01-01)
Architecture’s bounds with nature are represented as a complex process in a perverse cycle in the linear history of architecture and the process is intertwined with human actions, resulting in the built environment. Architecture tries to legitimize itself by incorporating culture to control and spatialize over nature in the socio-cultural dimension. This study aims to analyse architecture as remain in-between nature and culture by problematizing and questioning nature/culture dualism in the context of mimes...
