Analysis of fiber reinforced composite vessel under hygrothermal loading
Sayman, Sümeyra; Parnas, Kemal Levend; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2003)
The aim of this study is to develop an explicit analytical formulation based on the anisotropic elasticity theory that determines the behavior of fiber reinforced composite vessel under hygrothermal loading. The loading is studied for three cases separately, which are plane strain case, free ends and pressure vessel cases. For free-end and pressure vessel cases, the vessel is free to expand, on the other hand for plane strain case, the vessel is prevented to expand. Throughout the study, constant, linear an...
Analysis of laminated glass arches and cylindrical shells
Dural, Ebru; Aşık, Mehmet Zülfü; Department of Engineering Sciences (2011)
In this study, a laminated glass unit which consists of two glass sheets bonded together by PVB is analyzed as a curved beam and as a cylindrical shell. Laminated glass curved beams and shells are used in architecture, aerospace, automobile and aircraft industries. Curved beam and shell structures differ from straight structures because of their initial curvature. Because of mathematical complexity most of the studies are about linear behavior rather than nonlinear behavior of curved beam and shell units. T...
Analysis of glow curve of GaS0.5Se0.5 single crystals
IŞIK, MEHMET; Delice, Serdar; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2015-12-01)
Characterization of shallow trapping centers in GaS0.5Se0.5 crystals grown by a Bridgman method was carried out in the present work using thermoluminescence (TL) measurements performed in the low temperature range of 10-300 K. The activation energies of the trapping centers were obtained under the light of results of various analysis methods. The presence of three trapping centers located at 6, 30 and 72 meV was revealed. The analysis of the experimental glow curve gave reasonable results under the model th...
Analysis of reinforced concrete columns retrofitted with fiber reinforced polymer lamina
Binici, Barış (2007-01-01)
Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) lamina have been used widely in the last decade to enhance strength and deformation capacity of deficient reinforced concrete (RC) columns. Seismic assessment and retrofit of existing columns in buildings and bridge piers necessitate accurate prediction of the available deformation capacity. In this study, a new analytical model is proposed to represent potential plastic hinge regions of RC columns prior to and after FRP retrofit. A recently developed variable confined concret...
Analysis of forging for three different alloy steels
Civelekoğlu, Barış; Darendeliler, Haluk; Gökler, Mustafa İlhan; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2003)
Forging is a manufacturing process which is preferred among the others in that, the final product shows more enhanced properties. The properties of the final product are directly related with the material used in the forging process. Main parameters such as forging temperature, number of stages, preform design, dimensions of the billet, etc. may be affected by the forging material. Alloys are one of the main areas of interest in the forging industry. The use of alloy steels may bring superior properties, es...
