Walking draglines are generally used for stripping overburden in open cast coal mines.In Turkey, nine walking draglines are operated for handling the overburden stripping inlignite coal mines. It is important to maximize the performance of walking draglines to justify its high capital investment requirement, which could reach 100 million USD, forsustaining the economic feasibility of the mine. This study summarizes the operationalfactors that determine the performance and efficiency of the walking draglines and alsodiscusses the ways to achieve the maximized performance
