Synergistic Effect of Gemcitabine and Clofazimine in Co-loaded Liposomal Formulation for Multidrug Treatment Approach of Osteosarcoma
Çalışkan, Yağmur; Güleç, Ezgi; Gerekçi, Selin; Tezcaner, Ayşen; Özen, Can; Keskin, Dilek (2017-07-19)
ntroduction: Osteosarcoma is the most common cancer in bone with high occurrence in children. The development of resistance is a challenge of current treatment strategies that needs to be improved with novel treatment strategies. In the current research, a new dual drug delivery system was developed with Gemcitabine (GEM) and Clofazimine (CLF) co-loaded liposome formulations for osteosarcoma treatment. GEM is a pyrimidine antimetabolite that inhibits DNA synthesis and CLF is a leprostatic and anti-inflammat...
Synergistic effects of biochar and processed fly ash on bioavailability, transformation and accumulation of heavy metals by maize (Zea mays L.) in coal-mining contaminated soil
Munir, Mehr Ahmed Mujtaba; Liu, Guijian; Yousaf, Balal; Ali, Muhammad Ubaid; Abbas, Qumber; Ullah, Habib (2020-02-01)
In the paper, hydrothermally (HT) treated, sulfuric acid (H2SO4), and hydrochloric acid (HCI) washed fly ashes (FA) were used to examine the applied effects with and without biochar (BC) on the bioavailability of heavy metals (HMs) and growth of maize (Zea mays L) plants in coal -mining contaminated soil. Addition of BC in combination with these processed fly ashes (PFA) significantly increased the soil pH, EC, and soil organic carbon (SOC). Individual application of BC and PFA increased the available conte...

Synergistic effects and mechanisms of hydroxyl radical-mediated oxidative degradation of sulfamethoxazole by Fe(II)-EDTA catalyzed calcium peroxide: Implications for remediation of antibiotic-contaminated water
Amina, Amina; Si, Xiongyuan; Wu, Kang; Si, Youbin; Yousaf, Balal (2018-12-01)
In this study, a modified Fenton system using calcium peroxide (CaO2) powder, as an effective source of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), for the degradation of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) in aqueous solution was investigated. Our results indicated that degradation of SMX in Fe(II)-EDTA catalyzed CaO2 system was readily more efficient than in Fe(II) catalyzed CaO2 system. The SMX degradation efficiency was found maximum at pH 6.0 and SMX degradation was suppressed as the initial solution pH was increased. Nevertheless o...
Synergistic fire retardancy of colemanite, a natural hydrated calcium borate, in high-impact polystyrene containing brominated epoxy and antimony oxide
Kaynak, Cevdet (2011-05-01)
This study explores for the first time the synergistic fire retardant action of natural hydrated calcium borate, namely the mineral colemanite, which partially replaces antimony oxide in brominated flame retardant high-impact polystyrene compounds. Various antimony oxide to hydrated calcium borate ratios were employed keeping the brominated flame retardant additive at a constant loading level. With partial colemanite substitution for antimony oxide, lower heat release rate, total heat evolved and fire growt...
