Yilmazer, Bütent
Özgen, Serkan
Upon growing interest from students and feedback from industrial partners, a new non-technical course has been proposed. The course addresses the technological, social, cultural and economical aspects of 100 Years of Modern Flight. It aims at providing a discussion platform for students coming from different departments and fields of study, thus creating a multi-disciplinary environment. The course differs from the usual course format. The students are graded according to their performances and participations in class discussions and oral presentations for which they make surveys on aviation related topics. Extensive use of visual material is made during the lectures.

Learning about others: Developing an interdisciplinary approach in design education
Demir, Özümcan; Kaygan, Pınar (2017-06-09)
Recently we witness a rising interest in interdisciplinary collaboration in both industrial design and engineering education. Since developing technology and innovation invites more complex design problems that are usually beyond the professional skills and competences of a single person, learning how to work in interdisciplinary teams becomes a central concern within the undergraduate programs of these fields. With the aim of contributing to interdisciplinary design education, this paper explores a fourwee...
Requirements Engineering for Cloud Systems: A Mapping Study Design
Wanderley, Fernando; Souza, Eric; Goulao, Miguel; Araujo, Joao; Cysneiros, Gilberto; Misra, Ananya (2017-07-06)
Cloud Computing gets increasingly established in industrial practice as an option for modelling cost-efficient and demand-oriented information systems. Despite the increasing acceptance of cloud computing within the industry, many important questions remain unanswered. Issues related to the best software architectures decisions for cloud-based systems are faced with the question of appropriate techniques applying at early phase like requirements engineering. The goal of this paper defines a design of a mapp...
The role of space in interdisciplinary collaboration in design education
Kaygan, Pınar; Aydınoğlu, Arsev Umur (2018-09-01)
The growing interest in the collaborative design education for innovation has mainly been concerned with students and learning outcomes. We know less about the collaboration between the tutors who teach interdisciplinary design courses. Addressing this gap, this article explores the effect of space on the interdisciplinary collaboration between faculty members from the fields of industrial design, architecture, engineering and business administration, who come together to design and conduct an extra-curricu...
Evaluation of Peer Mentoring Program in Higher Education: Does it Support Smooth Transition of New Faculty to the Academia?
Eret, Esra; Güneri, Oya; Çapa Aydın, Yeşim (2018-12-01)
Faculty mentoring programs are implemented in higher education institutions to support faculty development. Within this respect, the aim of this study was to explore the views and suggestions of mentors and mentees in relation to the effectiveness of the mentoring program in a large state university in Ankara. The study had a qualitative design and semi-structured interview schedule was used to collect data. The sample included 8 mentors and 9 mentees. The qualitative data obtained through interviews were a...
Flexibility modelling of natural gas contracts
Kestel, Sevtap Ayşe; Kalaycı, Erkan (null; 2015-05-16)
This paper aims to develop a novel algorithm based on all contractual and technical real-world constraints for a gas import/wholesale company in the concept of flexibility. The Mixed Integer Linear Program (MILP) is applied to a portfolio of contracts to produce the optimal amount of purchases pipeline natural gas (PNG) agreements, spot natural gas purchases, natural gas storage use levels and Session IV (16:00-17:30) – ENERGY & FINANCE 18 LNG purchases based on a real life case under various commitments s...
