Research development of lean construction journal: A bibliometric analysis

2019-01-01
© Lean Construction Journal 2019.Question: Q1: What is the current status of lean construction publications in LCJ? Q2: What should be expected when the publications in LCJ are analyzed by the authors? Purpose: The purpose of this article is to gather the technical papers and the case studies published in Lean Construction Journal between 2004 and 2018 and to observe the connections between them. In this way, further researches can be conducted on a more systematic basis. Research Method: The raw data obtained manually was organized by using spreadsheet software, and this organized data was processed using bibliometric analysis. Findings: Annual publication and number of citation per year, annual number of publications and citation outputs, the most cited publications, number of authors per publication, the most contributive authors, TreeMap of authors’ keywords, the most contributive countries, the map of the most contributive countries, publications according to international collaboration, countries having the highest number of internationally collaborative publications, country collaboration table, country collaboration map, the most contributive institutions, the most popular research topics Limitations: Only the technical papers published in Lean Construction Journal were included in the research. Although this may reflect a small portion of the publications in the field of lean construction, the reason for the limitation is to obtain a uniform research database and that LCJ is a well-known and an open access journal that can represent the overall trends in the past few decades. Implications: The current understanding of lean construction will be comprehended better after this analysis. Value for authors: This paper is the most comprehensive bibliometric analysis that reviews and gathers all the technical papers and case studies published in the last fifteen years in Lean Construction Journal. Also, it has a property as the first bibliometric analysis paper that analyzes all technical papers published in LCJ. Therefore, this paper is expected to be well studied by the lean construction practitioners and scholars in order to see the summary of LCJ publications.

Development of Fragility Curves for Single-Column RC Italian Bridges Using Nonlinear Static Analysis
Perdomo, Camilo; Monteiro, Ricardo; Sucuoğlu, Haluk (Informa UK Limited, 2020-05-07)
The main objective of this study is to assess the accuracy and suitability of Nonlinear Static Procedures (NSPs) in the development of analytical damage fragility curves for seismic risk assessment of large portfolios of Reinforced Concrete (RC) bridges. Seven NSP approaches, from widely used single-mode conventional pushover-based approaches to the more rigorous multi-mode conventional or adaptive pushover-based procedures are implemented. By systematically comparing fragility curve estimations in terms of...
Comparison of parametric models for conceptual duration estimation of building projects
Helvacı, Aziz; Sönmez, Rifat; Department of Civil Engineering (2008)
Estimation of construction durations is a very crucial part of project planning, as several key decisions are based on the estimated durations. In general, construction durations are estimated by using planning and scheduling techniques such as Gannt or bar chart, the Critical Path Method (CPM), and the Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT). However, these techniques usually require detailed design information for estimation of activity durations and determination of the sequencing of the activitie...
Development of a Micromechanics Based Cohesive Zone Model and Application for Ductile Fracture
Yalçınkaya, Tuncay; Tandoğan, İzzet Tarık (2019-01-01)
In this paper, derivation and implementation of a micromechanically motivated traction separation law for cohesive zone modeling of ductile fracture is discussed. The formulation of the framework is based on the growth of pores in an array of representative volume elements where pores are idealized as cylinders. Two relations are derived under normal and shear loading for mode-I and mixed-mode respectively, based on the upper bound for a perfectly plastic material (Yalcinkaya and Cocks (2015), Yalcinkaya an...
On efficient use of simulated annealing in complex structural optimization problems
Hasançebi, Oğuzhan (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2002-01-01)
The paper is concerned with the efficient use of simulated annealing (SA) in structural optimization problems of high complexity. A reformulation of the working mechanism of the Boltzmann parameter is introduced to accelerate and enhance the general productivity of SA in terms of convergence reliability. Two general and complementary parameters, referred as "weighted Boltzmann parameter" and "critical Boltzmann parameter," are proposed, Several alternative methodologies are suggested for these two parameter...
Conceptual quantity modeling of single span highway bridges by regression, neural networks and case based reasoning methods
Aşıkgil, Mert; Sönmez, Rifat; Department of Civil Engineering (2012)
Conceptual estimation techniques play an important role in determining the approximate costs of construction projects especially during feasibility stages. Moreover, pre-design estimates are also crucial for the contractors. With the help of the conceptual predictions companies can determine approximate project costs and can gain several advantages before tendering phase. The main objective of this thesis is to focus on modeling of quantities instead of costs and to develop quantity take-off models for pre-...
