Comparison of conventional and collapsed region operation of capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers
Huang, Yongli; Haeggstrom, Edward; Bayram, Barış; Zhuang, Xuefeng; Ergun, Arif Sanh; Cheng, Ching-Hsiang; Khuri-Yakub, Butrus T. (2006-10-01)
We report experimental results from a comparative study on collapsed region and conventional region operation of capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUTs) fabricated with a wafer bonding technique. Using ultrasonic pulse-echo and pitch-catch measurements, we characterized single elements of 1-D CMUT arrays operating in oil. The experimental results from this study agreed with the simulation results: a CMUT operating in the collapsed region produced a higher maximum output pressure than a CMUT ...
Comparison of Classical and Modern Landing Control System for a Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle
Nugroho, Larasmoyo (2014-10-23)
Research presented in the following paper contrasted the modern optimal robust control method with classical one, applied for a landing control system of a small unmanned aerial vehicle. Philosophically speaking, the optimal control used H-2 method meets excellent dynamic performance, while the robustness given by the H infinity method diminish the effect of disturbance to the performance output. Accordingly, implemented mixed H2/H infinity optimal robust control method in this paper appear to meet a balanc...
Comparison of compressive strength test procedures for blended cements
Ülker, Elçin; Yaman, İsmail Özgür; Öztürk, Abdullah; Department of Cement Engineering (2010)
The aim of this thesis is to twofold, in order to demonstrate the variabilities that can be faced within the compressive strength of blended cements, one blended cement namely CEM IV / B (P-V) 32.5N is selected and the 28-day compressive strength is obtained by 16 different laboratories following TS EN 196-1 standard. Later, to show the variabilities that could be faced by different standards, three different cement types were selected and their compressive strengths are determined following two procedures ...
Comparison of cooperative adaptive cruise control methods in idealistic and realistic scenarios
Aydın, Ahmed Buğra; Schmidt, Klaus Verner; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2021-9-10)
Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) aim at improving the efficiency and safety of transportation. In dense traffic, vehicles are aggregated to vehicle strings that travel on the same lane, whereby it is desired to maintain a small but safe distance between the vehicles in order to ensure driving comfort and safety. Cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) is a technology that is developed to address this issue. Hereby, the condition of string stability is highly relevant since it ensures the attenuat...
