On The Optimality of Maisel Sidelobe Blanking System
Coskun, Osman; Candan, Çağatay (2015-05-19)
We present an optimal sidelobe blanker (SLB) detector for Swerling-0, Swerling-1 and Swerling-3 targets and compare the performances of the suggested detector with the classical Maisel SLB structure. The optimal SLB detector depends on the signal to noise ratio (SNR) and jammer to noise ratio (JNR) values and may not be practical for implementation in many applications. The goal of this work is to compare the Maisel structure with the optimal detector which utilizes additional information on target and jamm...
On the arithmetic complexity of Strassen-like matrix multiplications
Cenk, Murat (2017-05-01)
The Strassen algorithm for multiplying 2 x 2 matrices requires seven multiplications and 18 additions. The recursive use of this algorithm for matrices of dimension n yields a total arithmetic complexity of (7n(2.81) - 6n(2)) for n = 2(k). Winograd showed that using seven multiplications for this kind of matrix multiplication is optimal. Therefore, any algorithm for multiplying 2 x 2 matrices with seven multiplications is called a Strassen-like algorithm. Winograd also discovered an additively optimal Stras...
On the universality of low-energy string model
Dereli, T; Obukhov, YN (IOP Publishing, 2000-01-07)
The low-energy (bosonic 'heterotic') string theory is interpreted as a universal limit of the Kaluza-Klein reduction when the dimension of an internal space goes to infinity. We show that such an approach is helpful in obtaining classical solutions of the string model. As a particular application, we obtain new exact static solutions for the two-dimensional effective string model. They turn out to be in agreement with the generalized no-hair conjecture, in complete analogy with the four- and higher-dimensio...
On the complexity of shapes embedded in ZN
Arslan, Mazlum Ferhat; Tarı, Zehra Sibel; Department of Computer Engineering (2019)
Shape complexity is a hard-to-quantify quality, mainly due to its relative nature. In common view, circles are considered to be the simplest shapes. However, when implemented in computer, none of the circularity measures yield the expected scores for the circle. This is because digital domain (Z^n) realizations of circles are only approximations to the ideal form. Consequently, complexity orders computed in reference to circle are unstable. As a remedy, we consider squares to be the simplest shapes relative...
