Surface-to-bed heat transfer for high-density particles in conical spouted and spout-fluid beds
Yaman, Onur; Külah, Görkem; KÖKSAL, MURAT (Elsevier BV, 2019-02-01)
Bed-to-surface heat transfer experiments from a vertically submerged cylindrical surface were conducted in laboratory-scale (D-c = 25 cm) conical spouted and spout-fluid beds at two different conical angles (31 degrees and 66 degrees) in the high particle density range (2500 kg/m(3) <= sigma(p) <= 6000 kg/m(3)). The effects of the bed design parameters (conical angle and inlet diameter of spouting gas entrance) and operating conditions (static bed height, particle size, density, and spouting and fluidizatio...
Surface Physical Properties of Ion Beam Sputtered Copper Thin Films on Poly Tetrafluoroethylene
Atta, A.; Abdeltwab, E.; Bek, Alpan (2021-06-01)
In this study thin copper (Cu) films are deposited on poly tetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) substrate using ion beam sputtering technique. The films are characterized using Raman spectroscopy, UV-VIS spectroscopy and atomic force microscope (AFM) techniques. The Raman spectrum shows some decrease in the intensities of Raman bands for Cu/PTFE film than pristine PTFE. UV-VIS transmittance spectra display that the optical transmission reduces from similar to 75% for pristine PTFE to similar to 0.20% after 60 min of ...

SURFACE STABILITY OF BISMUTH-RUTHENIUM OXIDE ELECTRODES
Gökağaç Arslan, Gülsün; KENNEDY, BJ (1993-07-01)
The effect of anodic polarization on the surface composition of Bi-Ru oxide, Bi2Ru2O7+y, electrodes in acid solution and acid-alcohol solutions has been studied by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. In acidic solution the surface is unstable under either oxidation or reductive conditions, with Bi being lost from the structure. During electrolysis the surface becomes covered with particles of a Bi oxide species.
Surface cracking in an orthotropic medium subjected to frictional contact
Sarikaya, Duygu; Dağ, Serkan (2016-07-01)
This article presents an analytical method capable of resolving the coupled problem of surface cracking in an orthotropic elastic medium subjected to frictional contact by a rigid flat punch. Reciprocal influences between the surface crack and the flat punch are accounted for by establishing a fully coupled formulation. Governing partial differential equations involving the displacement components are derived in accordance with plane theory of orthotropic elasticity. General solutions corresponding to mode ...
