The regulatory effect of CcaR activator on the cephamycin C gene cluster of streptomyces clavuligerus
Kurt, Aslıhan; Özcengiz, Gülay; Department of Biology (2011)
Streptomyces clavuligerus produces industrially important secondary metabolites such as cephamycin C (a β-lactam antibiotic) and clavulanic acid (a potent β-lactamase inhibitor). Cephamycin C is active against penicillin-resistant bacteria due to presence of methoxyl group in C-7 position of cephalosporin nucleus. Clavulanic acid is prescribed in combination with β-lactams for treatment of various bacterial infections. Cephamycin C and clavulanic acid gene clusters form β-lactam supercluster in S. clavulige...
Functional importance of CXXC5 in E2-driven cellular proliferation
Razizadeh, Negin; Muyan, Mesut; Department of Biology (2019)
17β-estradiol (E2) as the main circulating estrogen hormone has an important role in the regulation of various tissues including mammary tissue. E2 effects target tissue functions by binding to the nuclear receptors, ERα and β. ERs regulate the expression of target genes. Previous studies conducted in our laboratory indicate that one of these estrogen responsive genes is CXXC5 which is regulated by ERα. CXXC5 has a highly conserved zinc-finger CXXC domain, which makes it a member of zinc-finger CXXC domain ...
CXXC5 Proteinin İşlevsel Özelliklerinin Tanımlanmasında Protein Partnerleri
Muyan, Mesut; Erson Bensan, Ayşe Elif; Banerjee, Sreeparna(2016-12-31)
ZF-CXXC proteinlerinin CpG dinükleotidlerine bağlanması sitosin me...
Epigenetic characterization of CXXC5 gene locus
Kars, Gizem; Muyan, Mesut; Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (2018)
17β-estradiol (E2), the main circulating form of estrogen, induces diverse cellular responses through Estrogen Receptor α and β (ERα and ER β). E2 signaling mediates physiology and pathophysiology of several tissues by regulating E2 responsive genes. Previous studies of our laboratory described a noval E2 responsive gene, CXXC5 that is regulated through ERα. CXXC5 is a member of Zinc Finger CXXC domain protein family. Like other members of family, CXXC5 appears to function as epigenetic factor, co-regulator...
The inclusive semileptonic decays of the b-meson in a cp softly broken two higgs doublet model
Acar, Hilal; Turan, Gürsevil; Department of Physics (2004)
In this work, the B->Xdl+ld-decays are examined in the context of a CP softly broken two Higgs doublet model. The differential branching ratio, forward-backward asymmetry, CP-violating asymmetry, CP-violating asymmetry in the forward-backward asymmetry and polarization asymmetries of the final lepton in this decay are studied. The dependencies of these physical parameters on the model parameters are analyzed by paying a special attention to the effects of neutral Higgs boson (NHB) exchanges and possible CP ...
