Pre-accesion aid of European Union : the prospects for Turkey
Demir, Sırma; Ekinci, Nazım; Department of Economics (2003)
This thesis calculates the amount of pre-accession aid which will be given Turkey when Turkey starts accession negotiations with EU. By using Poland̕s receipts from pre-accession financial transfers of EU during its accession negotiations, the study makes expectation about Turkey̕s pre-accession aid. This thesis also attempts to ask the reality of this calculated value by looking at the budgetary situation of EU during Turkey̕s pre-accession period.
High Growth Firms: As a Policy Option in Turkey
Demirez, Murat (Science And Technology Policies Research Center, Middle East Technical University (Ankara, Turkey), 2016)
HGFs increasingly draw attention of policy makers with their outstanding performances as novel policy instruments. However, the heterogeneous nature of firm growth and its erratic patterns make them questionable. In addition, there is not any consensus about the definition and measurement method for high growth, which makes it difficult to compare different studies. The main research questions of this study are, whether HGFs in Turkey share common characteristics with HGFs in other countries and how the coh...
Short Term Hydrological Forecasting for a Cascade Dam System: A Case Study of Euphrates Basin in Turkey
Onen, Alper; Hesamı Afshar, Mehdı; Bulut, Burak (2020-05-04)
This study investigates the performance of short term daily hydrological forecasts utilizing Global Forecast System (GFS) and Hydrologiska Byrans Vattenbalansavdelning (HBV) model over a major sub-region (~25000 km2) located in Euphrates River Basin, Turkey. The test basin, over which the forecast algorithm is implemented, is home to five (four operational and another almostcomplete) dams with 3 three more planned; all eight located within last 300 km reach of 730 kmlong Murat River. The algorithm is aimed ...
NEAR FIELD SEISMIC SITE RESPONSE ANALYSIS OF ALLUVIAL BASIN: A CASE STUDY FOR THE GÖLYAKA, DÜZCE, TURKEY
Yousefı Bavıl, Karım; Koçkar, Mustafa Kerem; Akgün, Haluk (null; 2017-10-13)
Seismic events in the last few decades have demonstrated that local site conditions particular near earthquake prone areas that can generate significant amplifications and spatial variations of earthquake ground motion play a major role in the level of ground shaking. Hence, the amplification of ground motion due to local site effects (i.e., topographical conditions, ground motion resonance and basin geometry, etc.) plays an important role in increasing seismic damage. The study area is located in the Gölya...
