PULSE SHAPE, EXCESS BANDWIDTH, AND TIMING ERROR SENSITIVITY IN PRS SYSTEMS - COMMENT
TANIK, Y (1989-08-01)
Several non-minimum-bandwidth partial-response-signaling (PRS) techniques were compared in the above paper (ibid., vol.COM-35, p.475-80, April 1987). One of the criteria used for the comparison was the robustness to the timing jitter. The commenter shows that according to this criterion the duobinary signaling technique is superior to the dicode scheme at low values of the roll-off factor, in contradiction to the conclusion in the original study. In reply the author agrees that the comment is correct and th...
FREQUENCY-DOMAIN MECHANISM EXTRACTION
Sayan, Gönül (1990-10-01)
A time-domain analysis is applied to a frequency-domain technique which recovers the individual frequency characteristics of localized scattering mechanisms from a composite signature with two scattering mechanisms. This technique constructs a matrix which has filter characteristics with similar properties to a physically realizable filter based upon convolution concepts. This similarity is expanded to evaluate the rows of the matrix as filters, as demonstrated in the time domain to provide an alternate int...
Pulse-response study for the humidity effect on sorption of ethyl bromide on clays
Yasyerli, N; Dogu, G; Doğu, Timur; McCoy, BJ (Wiley, 1999-02-01)
The effects of relative humidify on sorption and the diffusion of ethyl bromide in kaolinite and montmorillonite pellets were investigated by the one-sided single-pellet moment technique. Montmorillonite demonstrated a higher water affinity than kaolinite, causing a sharper decrease of the ethyl bromide adsorption equilibrium constant with an increase of relative humidity. For montmorillonite, most of the active sites are covered by water even at relative humidities of 8%, and adsorption of ethyl bromide on...
Channel Characterization for Aircraft Integrated Antennas via Machine Learning
Aksan, Yasin; Yüksel Turgut, Ayşe Melda; Ozbayoglu, Ahmet (2021-01-01)
Wireless communication with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will become an integral part of future wireless communication systems. In UAVs real-time data transfer is very critical because UAVs need to be controlled from the ground and their data is also transferred in real time. However, aircraft antennas are prone to airframe shadowing. Aircraft surfaces, on which antennas are placed, obscure the main line-of-sight path. In addition, losses used in link budget analyses show great variability in real time. ...
