Influence of ultrasonically assisted synthesis on particle size of magnetic nanoparticles
KÜÇÜK, Burcu; Özkan, Necati; Volkan, Mürvet (2013-10-01)
Poly(methacrylic acid)(PMAA) coated magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles were synthesized via co-precipitation in aqueous solution with the use of conventional magnetic stirring and ultrasonic agitation. It has been shown that the ultrasonic agitation during the synthesis of magnetite particles decreased the size of PMAA-coated magnetic agglomerates significantly. The primary particle size of iron oxide particles was determined as approximately 10 nm by X-ray diffraction method (Scherer's equation). The volume w...
An analysis of rail transit investments in Turkey: are the expectations met?
Özgür, Özge; Babalık, Ela; Urban Design in City and Regional Planning Department (2009)
Rail transit investments require highest amount of investment costs of all modes and considering the high cost involved, it is particularly important that their performance justifies this high cost and that expectations from these investments are met. Therefore, in the world, it has become an important field of research to study the performances of rail systems in order to assess whether these expectations are met. In Turkey, there is a growing interest in constructing rail transit systems in the cities. Ho...

A Comparative Density Functional Study of Hydrogen Peroxide Adsorption and Activation on the Graphene Surface Doped with N, B, S, Pd, Pt, Au, Ag, and Cu Atoms
Duzenli, Derya (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2016-09-15)
The adsorption of the hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) molecule, which is known as the common form of reactive oxygen species in living cells, was investigated theoretically over pure graphene and heteroatom- (nitrogen-, boron-, and sulfur-) and metal-atom- (silver-, gold-, copper-, palladium-, and platinum-) doped graphene surfaces using the density functional theory (DFT) method. This study involved the optimization of pure and doped graphene surfaces, adsorption of the gas molecule on top of the doped atoms and ...
