An evaluation of canonical forms for non-rigid 3D shape retrieval

Canonical forms attempt to factor out a non-rigid shape's pose, giving a pose-neutral shape. This opens up the possibility of using methods originally designed for rigid shape retrieval for the task of non-rigid shape retrieval. We extend our recent benchmark for testing canonical form algorithms. Our new benchmark is used to evaluate a greater number of state-of-the-art canonical forms, on five recent non-rigid retrieval datasets, within two different retrieval frameworks. A total of fifteen different cano...
An evaluation of image reproduction algorithms for high contrast scenes on large and small screen display devices
Akyüz, Ahmet Oğuz; Aydın, Murat (2013-11-01)
Rendering high contrast scenes on display devices with limited dynamic range is a challenging task. Two groups of algorithms have emerged to take up this challenge: tone mapping operators (TMOs) and more recently exposure fusion (EF) techniques. While several formal evaluation studies comparing TMOs exist, no formal evaluation has yet been performed that compares EF techniques with each other or compares them against TMOs. Moreover, with the advancements in hand-held devices and programmable digital cameras...
An evaluation of aspect-oriented programming for embedded real-time systems
Kartal, Yusuf Bora; Schmidt, Şenan Ece; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2007)
Crosscutting concerns are the issues in software that cannot be modularized within a software module. In this thesis work, a detailed evaluation of the use of Aspect Oriented Programming for the implementation of crosscutting concerns in embedded real-time systems is presented. The pilot Audio Switch project implementations are first evaluated in terms of software quality attributes. Then a detailed analysis of the two implementations, according to embedded real-time performance metrics has been carried out...
An evaluation of aspect oriented programming for embedded real-time systems
Kartal, Yusuf Bora; Schmidt, Şenan Ece (2007-12-01)
Crosscutting concerns are the issues in object- oriented programming (OOP) that cannot be modularized within a software module. In this paper, an experimental evaluation of the use of aspect-oriented programming (AOP) for the implementation of crosscutting concerns in embedded real-time systems is presented. The crosscutting functionality of the project under study is realized both by employing OOP and AOP techniques to make a comparison between the two programming paradigms. These two implementations are e...
An Evaluation of ghost removal algorithms for exposure fusion
Kutlu, Tuğser; Akar, Gözde; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2015)
In high dynamic range imaging (HDR), the goal is to capture a scene with a higher dynamic range than the camera capable of capturing with a single exposure. Similar to HDR, exposure fusion is a process that takes multiple images and combines them to create a single dynamically enhanced image by only keeping the properly exposed elements. When using multiple images, local motion of objects can influence the quality of the final image in such a way that local motion of objects causes a ghost artifact. In this...
