USING THE NEURAL NETWORK ALGORITHMS TO ESTIMATE THE THERMAL STRESSES OF POWER ELECTRONIC DEVICES AS FUNCTION OF DESIGN PARAMETERS
Odeh, Nemer; Batunlu, Canras; Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2021-8)
The demand for high power rating applications is increasing rapidly. The essential components needed to fulfill these demands are power electronic devices and circuits such as IGBTs, diodes, rectifiers, inverters, and DC-DC converters. However, these components usually are sensitive to parameter changes and can face significant failures if we don’t examine our system component’s reliability well. The traditional approaches to calculating the failure-tolerant capability in power electronic systems are r...

Using Transitional Bottlenecks to Improve Learning in Nearest Sequence Memory Algorithm
Aydın, Hüseyin; Polat, Faruk (2017-11-08)
Instance-based methods are proven tools to solve reinforcement learning problems with hidden states. Nearest Sequence Memory (NSM) is a widely known instance-based approach mainly based on k-Nearest Neighbor algorithm. It keeps the history of the agent in terms of action-observation-reward tuples and uses it to vote for the best upcoming action. In this work, an improving heuristic is proposed for the NSM algorithm which provides the agent an additional prior information, namely transitional bottlenecks, on...
Using a personality-oriented job analysis to identify attributes to be assessed in officer selection
Sümer, Hayriye Canan; Sumer, N; Demirutku, K; Cifci, OS (2001-01-01)
The purpose of this research was to identify personality constructs to be assessed in the selection of officers in the Turkish Armed Forces by using a personality-oriented job analysis approach. Personality-oriented job analytic interviews were conducted with currently employed and former officers (N = 78). Content analysis of the interviews led to the identification of a list of attributes presumed to be relevant. The attributes were then rated by a group of officers (N = 447) for relevance and importance....
