STUDIES ON METAL RESISTANCE SYSTEM IN KLUYVEROMYCES-MARXIANUS
YAZGAN, A; Özcengiz, Gülay; ALAEDDINOGLU, NG (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1993-08-01)
Through preliminary plate tests, Kluyveromyces marxianus was found to be much more resistant to toxic heavy metals compared to a CUP1R strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Specific growth rate and maximum dry weights affected by increasing metal concentrations were determined to obtain precise patterns of resistance. Metal biosorption was also monitored during the course of growth in synthetic media containing respective metals at 0.5 mM final concentration. Although Zn- and Co-binding was negligible, as muc...
STUDIES ON CHIROPTICAL PROPERTIES OF 2-CARBOXY-5,6-BENZOCOUMARIN: EFFECT OF SIDE CHAIN
Öztürk, Perihan; Akdağ, Akın; Department of Chemistry (2022-10-21)
The synthesis and examination of chiroptical materials are essential for their considerable potential in diverse applications. With that, induced chirality is a particular condition for the design of chiroptical compounds where the chiral information of a chiral compound is transferred to a UV-Vis reporter. This approach allows the utilization of numerous chiral compounds for chiroptical studies. Accordingly, in this study, the use of 2-carboxy-5,6-benzocoumarin (3-oxo-3H- benzo[f]chromene-2-carboxylic acid...
Studies on the mechanism of base-catalyzed decomposition of bicyclic endoperoxides
Mete, E; Altundas, R; Secen, H; Balcı, Metin (2003-01-01)
Kinetic studies were performed to clarify the Kornblum-Delamare reaction mechanism of bicyclic endoperoxides. Ascaridol and 1,4-diphenyl-2,3-dioxa-bicyclo[2.2.2]oct-5-ene, not having alpha-protons, did not provide any reaction with bases. Reaction with different bases has revealed that reaction rates for the base-catalyzed decomposition of 2,3-dioxa-bicyclo[2.2.2]oct-5-ene depend strongly on the base strength. The stronger the base used, the faster the conversion rate. Reaction rate values k of endoperoxide...
