Role hydrology, sewage effluent diversion and fish on mass balance of nutrients in a system of shallow lakes Mogan and Eymir, Turkey
Karapınar, Burcu; Beklioğlu, Meryem; Department of Biology (2005)
In this study, annual total phosphorus (TP) budget and dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN) load were constructed for Lakes Mogan and Eymir for the period of eight years from 1997 to 2004 and the period of ten years covering from 1993 to 1995 and 1997 to 2004, respectively. Lake Mogan experienced seasonal and interannual water level fluctuations. Low water level experienced in 2001 led to decrease in the in-lake TP amount whereas 2-fold increase in the in-lake DIN amount was recorded. Also, high hydraulic res...
Simulation of yacht movements in Göcek Bays
Genç (Numanoğlu), Aslı; Özhan, Erdal; Department of Civil Engineering (2004)
Fethiye-Göcek area is one of the nine coastal Specially Protected Area (SPA) in Turkey. Since mid-80̕s Göcek town has developed to be a yachting center, and the bays of Göcek have acquired a well-earned international fame as a paradise for boating vacations. However, the uncontrolled yachting in this bay area presents a growing pressure on the environment, and the coastal and marine ecosystem. In this thesis a computer model for simulating the movements of yachts in Göcek Bays is developed. The computer mod...
Reservoir sedimentation in the Demirköprü Dam, Turkey
Altan Sakarya, Ayşe Burcu; Göğüş, Mustafa (null; 2010-09-10)
The Demirköprü Reservoir is located on the Gediz River in West Central Turkey andhas a storage capacity of 1.32x109 m3 at Normal Water Surface Elevation. Construction of the dam was started in 1954 and completed in 1960. Sediment accumulation within the Demirköprü Reservoir influences the operation life of the dam. In the present study, reservoir sedimentation was assessed by two ways: com-parison between successive hydrographic surveys and suspended sediment measurements. Since 1960, two hydrog...
Structural controls of Özyurt shear-hosted gold deposit, Niğde, central Türkiye
Onat, Kaan; Kaymakcı, Nuretdin; Department of Geological Engineering (2022-8)
Shear-hosted Özyurt Gold Deposit is located in the Niğde Massif, a metamorphic core complex at the southern tip of Kırşehir Block, in Central Türkiye. The massif is composed of alternations of gneiss, schist, quartzite, marble, and amphibolites. It is tectonically overlain by Neotethyan ophiolites and intruded by Üçkapılı Granite. Gold mineralization is hosted along the foliation surfaces, by oxidized cataclastic breccias formed in schists along a high-angle fault network, as well as the gossans at the cont...
Marmara Köşkü: Atatürk İçin Modern Çiftlik Evi
Alpagut, Leyla (Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, 2012-6-1)
Established in 1925, the Gazi Pap Farm has shown a planned development during the 1930s with its complementary functions of agriculture, industry, accommodation, entertainment, and leisure. The Marmara Chalet built as resident for Ataturk is one of the primary structures of the Farm premises, which defines the qualification of the 'modernity project' at its own scale. This early-dated structure realized by the Swiss architect Ernst Arnold Egli between the years 1928-1929, one year after he came to Turkey, r...
