Systematic development of pH-independent controlled release tablets of carvedilol using central composite design and artificial neural networks
Aktas, Elcin; EROĞLU, HAKAN; Kockan, Umit; ÖNER, LEVENT (2013-08-01)
The purpose of this study was to apply the optimization method incorporating artificial neural network (ANN) using pH-independent release of weakly basic drug, carvedilol from HPMC-based matrix formulation. Because of weakly basic nature of carvedilol, drug shows pH-dependent solubility. The enteric polymer EUDRAGIT L100 was added formulations to overcome pH-dependent solubility of carvedilol. Effects of the Hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose (HPMC) K4M and EUDRAGIT L100 amount on drug release were investigated....

Systematic development of a new hysteretic damper based on torsional yielding: part I-design and development
Milani, Ali Salem; Dicleli, Murat (2016-05-01)
Analytical and experimental studies into the behavior of a new hysteretic damper, designed for seismic protection of structures is presented in two papers. Although the subject matter of the papers is a specific system, they are also intended as an illustration of practical application of diverse engineering tools in systematic development of an anti-seismic product. The Multi-directional Torsional Hysteretic Damper (MTHD) is a recently patented invention in which a symmetrical arrangement of identical cyli...
Systematic development of a new hysteretic damper based on torsional yielding: part IIexperimental phase
Milani, Ali Salem; Dicleli, Murat (2016-04-25)
This paper reports on experimental studies carried out on a 200kN, 120mm-capacity prototype of the newly developed multidirectional torsional hysteretic damper for seismic protection of structures. The main goal of the experiments is to test the validity of the theory developed in a companion paper and to evaluate the low-cycle fatigue performance of the energy dissipaters of the damper. Because the design and configuration of the damper allow easy replacement of the energy dissipaters, four sets of energy ...
Systematic investigation on combustion characteristics and emission-reduction mechanism of potentially toxic elements in biomass- and biochar-coal co-combustion systems
Yousaf, Balal; Liu, Guijian; Abbas, Qumber; Wang, Ruwei; Ali, Muhammad Ubaid; Ullah, Habib; Liu, Ruijia; Zhou, Chuncai (2017-12-01)
Thermochemically converted biochar is considered as one of the promising alternative solid-fuel due to its high carbon contents of up to 80%, and has great potential to produce environmentally-friendly green-energy by improved fuel properties and emission-reduction of potentially toxic elements (PTEs). In this study, the biochar fuels, produced from peanut shell (PS) and wheat straw (WS) at 300, 500 and 700 degrees C, alone and blended with coal at mass ratio of 20% and 50% were systematically investigated ...
