Collection of Metal Powders From Recycled Hard Particle Embedded Composite Cutting Tools
Altunbaşak, Tansu; Kul, Mehmet; Karakaya, İshak (null; 2018-10-27)
Diamond particles embedded cutting sockets which are placed on the circumference of the metal disc in industry to cut hard materials are discarded after completing their economic life. However, large quantities of metals and diamond particles remain in the discarded sockets. An electrochemical recycling procedure to form metal powders and gain diamond particles comprehensively and efficiently have been studied. The effects of temperature, acid concentration, copper ion concentration of the electrolyte and c...
Recovery of germanium and other valuable metals from zinc plant residues
Kul, A.; Topkaya, Yavuz Ali (Elsevier BV, 2008-06-01)
The main purpose of this study was to characterize and to extract germanium from the copper cake of Cinkur Zinc Plant. The physical, chemical and mineralogical characterization of the ground copper cake sample obtained from Cinkur showed that it was 84% below 147 pin containing 700 ppm germanium. The copper cake also contained 15.33% Cu, 15.63% Zn, 1.66% Cd, 1.33% Ni, 0.64% Co, 0.35% Fe, 2.62% Pb, 12.6% As, 0.18% Sb and 3.42% SiO2. The mineralogical analysis indicated the complex nature of the copper cake w...
Analysis of material collected on particles exposed to volatile matter of bituminous coal in a fluidized bed
Vural, H (1997-05-01)
The activity of fluidized bed particles towards the volatile matter of a bituminous coal was analysed by measurement of tar yield and the direct measurement of CO2 concentration in the exhaust gas from the devolatilization of bituminous coal particles in a laboratory-scale fluidized bed reactor. In a third approach, thermogravimetric analysis (t.g.a.) of the fluidizing particles was performed, indicating that calcium-containing particles exhibited the largest weight loss. In a fourth approach, a mass spectr...
Analysis of bakery products by laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy
Bilge, Gonca; BOYACI, İSMAİL HAKKI; ESELLER, KEMAL EFE; TAMER, UĞUR; Çakır, Serhat (2015-08-15)
In this study, we focused on the detection of Na in bakery products by using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) as a quick and simple method. LIBS experiments were performed to examine the Na at 589 nm to quantify NaCl. A series of standard bread sample pellets containing various concentrations of NaCl (0.025-3.5%) were used to construct the calibration curves and to determine the detection limits of the measurements. Calibration graphs were drawn to indicate functions of NaCl and Na concentrations...
Characterization of fly ashes from thermal power plants in Turkey
Tangüler, Meltem; Meral, Çağla; Department of Civil Engineering (2015)
Fly ash (FA) - a mainly amorphous, aluminosilicate fine powder- is the major by- product of coal-fired thermal power plants (TPP). FA is generated during the combustion of pulverized coal and collected in mechanical or electrostatic separators. FA is a widely used material in cement and concrete industry. According to the TPP technology, the characteristics of the burned coal and the operation conditions of the TPP; the characteristics of the FAs may vary considerably. The scope of this thesis is limited to...
