In this study, proper orthogonal decomposition based reduced-order modelling and variational multiscale stabilization method are utilized for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. In addition, the difficulties resulting from nonlinearity are eliminated using the extrapolation. Theoretical analysis of the method is presented. To check the efficiency of the proposed method, we utilize the test problem of 2D channel flow past a cylinder.

On soliton solutions of nonlinear sigma models of symmetric spaces
Karasu, Emine Ayşe (2001-10-30)
The inverse scattering transform technique of Belinskii-Zakharov for the integration of nonlinear sigma model equations is reviewed. N-soliton solutions of the principal chiral field equations axe given. The explicit two-complex pole soliton solutions of vacuum and electro-vacuum Ernst equations are constructed.
On the stability at all times of linearly extrapolated BDF2 timestepping for multiphysics incompressible flow problems
AKBAŞ, MERAL; Kaya, Serap; Kaya Merdan, Songül (2017-07-01)
We prove long-time stability of linearly extrapolated BDF2 (BDF2LE) timestepping methods, together with finite element spatial discretizations, for incompressible Navier-Stokes equations (NSE) and related multiphysics problems. For the NSE, Boussinesq, and magnetohydrodynamics schemes, we prove unconditional long time L-2 stability, provided external forces (and sources) are uniformly bounded in time. We also provide numerical experiments to compare stability of BDF2LE to linearly extrapolated Crank-Nicolso...
ON GENERALIZED LOCAL SYMMETRIES OF THE SO(2,1) INVARIANT NONLINEAR SIGMA-MODEL
BASKAL, S; ERIS, A; SATIR, A (1994-12-19)
The symmetries and associated conservation laws of the SO(2,1) invariant non-linear sigma model equations in 1+1 dimensions are investigated. An infinite family of generalized local symmetries is presented and the uniqueness of these solutions is discussed.
On the use of complex stretching coordinates in generalized finite difference method with applications in inhomogeneous visco-elasto dynamics
Korkut, Fuat; Mengi, Yalcin; Tokdemir, Turgut (2022-01-01)
In the study, in conjunction with perfectly matched layer (PML) analysis, an approach is proposed for the evaluation of complex derivatives directly in terms of complex stretching coordinates of points in PML. For doing this within the framework of generalized finite difference method (GFDM), a difference equation is formulated and presented, where both the function values and coordinates of data points might be complex. The use of the proposed approach is considered in the analysis of inhomogeneous visco-e...
