A measurement of Lambda(c)(+) production in neutrino nucleon charged-current interactions is presented. In a subsample of about 50 000 interactions located in the emulsion target of the CHORUS detector, exposed to the wide band neutrino beam of the CERN SPS, candidates for decays of short-lived particles were identified using new automatic scanning systems and later confirmed through visual inspection. Criteria based on the flight length allowed a statistical separation among the different charm species thus enabling a sample particularly rich in Lambda(c)(+) to be defined. At an average neutrino energy of 27 GeV, the product sigma(Lambda(c)(+))/sigma(CC) x BR(Lambda(c)(+) --> 3p) was measured to be (0.37 +/- 0.10(stat) +/- 0.02(syst)) x 10(-2), while the values of (1.54 +/- 0.35(stat) +/- 0.18(syst)) x 10(-2) and of 0.24 +/- 0.07(stat) +/- 0.04(syst) were obtained for sigma(Lambda(c)(+))/sigma(CC) and BR(Lambda(c)(+) --> 3p), respectively. Measurement of the Lambda(0)(b) lifetime in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2013-07-01)
A measurement of the Lambda(0)(b) lifetime using the decay Lambda(0)(b) -> J/psi Lambda in protonproton collisions at root s = 7TeV is presented. The data set, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 5 fb(-1), was recorded with the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider using triggers that selected dimuon events in the J/psi mass region. The Lambda(0)(b) lifetime is measured to be 1.503 +/- 0.052 (stat.) +/- 0.031 (syst.) ps
Measurement of the Lambda(0)(b) lifetime and mass in the ATLAS experiment
Aad, G.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2013-02-04)
A measurement of the Lambda(0)(b) lifetime and mass in the decay channel Lambda(0)(b) -> J/psi (mu(+) mu(-))Lambda(0)(p pi(-)) is presented. The analysis uses a signal sample of about 2200 Lambda(0)(b) and (Lambda) over bar (0)(b) decays that are reconstructed in 4.9 fb(-1) of ATLAS pp collision data collected in 2011 at the LHC center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. A simultaneous mass and decay time maximum likelihood fit is used to extract the Lambda(0)(b) lifetime and mass. They are measured to be tau(Lambda b...
Measurement of the t(t)over-bar production cross section using events with one lepton and at least one jet in pp collisions at root s=13 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2017-09-01)
A measurement of the t (t) over bar production cross section at root s = 13 TeV is presented using proton-proton collisions, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.2 fb(-1), collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. Final states with one isolated charged lepton (electron or muon) and at least one jet are selected and categorized according to the accompanying jet multiplicity. From a likelihood fit to the invariant mass distribution of the isolated lepton and a jet identified as coming from the had...
Measurement of the t(t)over-bar production cross section in the all-jet final state in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2013-05-01)
A measurement is presented of the t (t) over bar production cross section (sigma(t (t) over bar)) in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, in the all-jet final state that contains at least six jets, two of which are tagged as originating from b quarks. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 3.54 fb(-1), collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. The cross section is determined through an unbinned maximum likelihood fit of background and t (t) over bar signal to the recon...
Measurement of the associated production of a single top quark and a Z boson in pp collisions at, root s=13 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2018-04-01)
A measurement is presented of the associated production of a single top quark and a Z boson. The study uses data from proton-proton collisions at, root s = 13 TeV recorded by the CMS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1). Using final states with three leptons (electrons or muons), the tZq production cross section is measured to be sigma (pp -> tZq -> Wbl(+)l(-)q) = 123(-31)(+33)(stat)(-23)(+29)(syst) fb, where l stands for electrons, muons, or tau leptons, with observed and ex...
