Hydrogen being the most abundant element on the Earth, is an excellent energy carrier with high energy capacity that enable to use hydrogen storage methods in portable power sources. In addition, hydrogen storage could be essential to store the energy obtained from the renewable energy sources. The solid state hydrogen storage is an encouraging method for hydrogen storage applications. In this study, Mg3BHx (x=1,4,7) compounds have been studied using Density Functional Theory (DFT) with the Vienna Ab-initio Simulation Package (VASP). The elastic constants have been obtained for the optimized structures. In addition, the band structures have been determined with the corresponding density of states. The gravimetric storage capacities have been determined for these compounds. Mg3BHx compounds with mechanical stability could be promising compounds for hydrogen storage applications.

Among the natural fibers with proven potential applications, silk fibers have recently received considerable attention from researchers. Silk fibers provide higher mechanical properties compared to other commonly used natural fibers such as sisal, jute, and hemp. Silk may also exhibit comparable specific mechanical properties to glass fibers. Howe...
First principles study of the vibrational and thermo-elastic properties of BaScO3 perovskite oxide
Gencer, A.; Sürücü, Gökhan (2019-11-25)
© 2019 Author(s).The vibrational and thermo-elastic properties of BaScO3 compound have been investigated using Density Functional Theory (DFT) with Vienna Ab initio Simulation Package (VASP). Perovskite materials could crystallize in five possible crystal structures: orthorhombic, tetragonal, rhombohedral, hexagonal, and cubic. Therefore, BaScO3 has been investigated for these five possible crystal structures and the most stable phase has been determined as the orthorhombic phase. Then, the vibrational prop...
Final results on neutrino oscillation parameters from the OPERA experiment in the CNGS beam
Agafonova, N.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2019-09-06)
© 2019 authors. Published by the American Physical Society. The OPERA experiment has conclusively observed the appearance of tau neutrinos in the muon neutrino CNGS beam. Exploiting the OPERA detector capabilities, it was possible to isolate high purity samples of νe, νμ and ντ charged current weak neutrino interactions, as well as neutral current weak interactions. In this paper, the full dataset is used for the first time to test the three-flavor neutrino oscillation model and to derive constraints on the ...

The Discrete Element Method (DEM) tool LIGGGHTS is used to simulate the particle motion in a centrifugal solar particle receiver. A separate thermal model is developed in MATLAB, which uses the particle positions calculated with the DEM simulation. Heat transfer at the particle scale is accounted for with models of particle-particle conduction, particle-fluid- particle conduction, and a n...
