DAILY OPERATION OF A MULTIPURPOSE RESERVOIR SYSTEM
Yazıcıgil, Hasan; TOEBES, GERRIT H (1983-01-01)
An optimization model that may be used by reservoir system operators to improve daily, real‐time operations and to evolve better long‐term operating guidelines is developed and tested. The four multipurpose reservoirs in the Green River Basin (GRB) of Kentucky are used as a case study. The GRB Operation Optimization Model (GRBOOM) is a linear program constructed to imitate the decision‐ making process that results in actual reservoir release decisions. The model is easily modifiable and very flexible, which...
Daily natural gas consumption prediction by MARS and CMARS models for residential users in Ankara
Yılmaz, Yavuz; Weber, Gerhard Wilhelm; Department of Scientific Computing (2015)
Energy efficient construction and operation of modern energy transmission and distribution systems is one of the major challenging problems in engineering area. Prior to every kind of natural gas related study, regardless of their financial or engineering features, demand forecast figures should be seen. Decision making of natural gas investment planning and operation in a city, region or country are highly important engineering problems that have very important economic effects. Determination of the total ...
Atmospheric mercury distribution in Northern Europe and in the Mediterranean region
Wängberg, Ingvar; et. al. (2001-06-01)
Mercury species in air have been measured at five sites in Northwest Europe and at five coastal sites in the Mediterranean region during measurements at four seasons. Observed concentrations of total gaseous mercury (TGM), total particulate mercury (TPM) and reactive gaseous mercury (RGM) were generally slightly higher in the Mediterranean region than in Northwest Europe. Incoming clean Atlantic air seems to be enriched in TGM in comparison to air in Scandinavia. Trajectory analysis of events where high con...
Seasonal distribution of large phytoplankton in the Keban Dam Reservoir
Akbay, N; Anul, N; Yerli, S; Soyupak, S; Yurteri, C (1999-04-01)
The Keban Dam Reservoir (KDR), in eastern Anatolia, is one of the largest man-made reservoirs of the world with a storage capacity of >30 billion m(3). In the KDR, long-term water quality surveys have been carried out in order to determine the trophic status of this rather unique reservoir. In this paper, the focus is on the large phytoplankton species that were identified during the field studies conducted between 1991 and 1993. According to the results of the surveys, the overall phytoplankton density is ...
Daily and Monthly Module Temperature Variation for 9 Different Modules
Özden, Talat ; Tolgay, Doga; Akınoğlu, Bülent Gültekin (2018-11-14)
One of the main parameter affecting the efficiency of PV modules is the module temperature. In this respect, outdoor testing of modules is very important to determine the temperature dependent performances and degradation rates. In this work, we analyzed the module temperatures of 9 different modules tested in the outdoor testing facility of METU-GUNAM, Ankara (latitude similar to 40 degrees N, in Central Anatolia and the climate is dry continental). The tested module types are two CIS (identical), one mu c...
