Although various approaches have been proposed to find robust levels of product and process design parameters when the response variable is continuous, the literature presents a limited number of studies with their own drawbacks for the ordered categorical response case. Motivated by this, we propose an alternative approach that models location and dispersion effects separately as functions of design parameters and finds settings of the parameters by considering both effects simultaneously and incorporating the decision maker’s preferences on the tradeoffs between them.

A joint Bayesian approach for the analysis of response measured at a primary endpoint and longitudinal measurements
Kalaylıoğlu Akyıldız, Zeynep Işıl (2017-12-01)
Joint mixed modeling is an attractive approach for the analysis of a scalar response measured at a primary endpoint and longitudinal measurements on a covariate. In the standard Bayesian analysis of these models, measurement error variance and the variance/covariance of random effects are a priori modeled independently. The key point is that these variances cannot be assumed independent given the total variation in a response. This article presents a joint Bayesian analysis in which these variance terms are...
A quality-based approach to estimating quantitative elasticities for differentiated products: an application to retail milk demand
Gülseven, Osman (2015-09-01)
This article introduces the Hedonic Metric (HM) approach as an original method to model the demand for differentiated products using qualitative attributes. Our approach is based on a two-stage estimation procedure that utilizes qualitative characteristics of products. First, we create an n-dimensional hedonic space based on the qualitative information available to consumers. Next, we allocate the differentiated products into this space and estimate the quantitative demand elasticities for these products us...
Measurement of the production cross section ratio sigma(chi b2(1P))/sigma(chi b1(1P)) in pp collisions at root s=8TeV
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2015-04-01)
A measurement of the production cross section ratio sigma(chi b2(1P))/sigma(chi b1(1P)) is presented. The chi b1 (1P) and chi b2 (1P) bottomonium states, promptly produced in pp collisions at root s = 8TeV, are detected by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC through their radiative decays chi b1,2(1P) -> Y(1S) + gamma. The emitted photons are measured through their conversion to e(+) e(-) pairs, whose reconstruction allows the two states to be resolved. The Y(1S) is measured through its decay to two muons. A...
A deterministic inventory/production model with general inventory cost rate function and piecewise linear concave production costs
Bayındır, Zeynep Pelin; Frenk, J. B. G. (Elsevier BV, 2007-05-16)
We present a thorough analysis of the economic production quantity model with shortages under a general inventory cost rate function and piecewise linear concave production costs. Consequently, an effective solution procedure, particularly useful for an approximation scheme, is proposed. A computational study is appended to illustrate the performance of the proposed solution procedure.
Developing a computer program for evaluating uncertainty of some typical dimensional measuring and gauging devices
Çelebioğlu, Hasan Emrah; Akkök, Metin; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2005)
In dimensional measurements, it is required to specify uncertainty in the measurement as the range of possible deviation for the measurement result. In this thesis, a computer program is developed for evaluating uncertainty inmeasurement of commonly used dimensional measuring devices like vernier callipers, micrometers, comparators, and gauge blocks. In evaluation of the uncertainty in measurement, some uncertainty sourceslike temperature difference between the measured part and the instrument, uncertainty ...
