X-ray Picture of Superclusters of Galaxies
Hudaverdi, M.; Bozkurt, M.; ERCAN, ENİSE NİHAL (2009-09-24)
Galaxies gravitationally attract each other and form galaxy groups (similar to 50) or galaxy clusters (> 100). Nevertheless galaxy clusters are not the end of structure formation. Clusters further get together and form Superclusters. Recent studies have shown that the Universe forms cosmic filaments and voids. The superclusters are the intersection points of these filaments. In this work we present an analysis of SCC100 and Shapley supercluster members. Using X-ray data we try to understand the mutual inter...
X-ray investigation of sintered cadmium doped hydroxyapatites
Evis, Zafer; USTA, Metin; AKTUĞ, SALİM LEVENT (2013-04-01)
Pure and cadmium (Cd) doped hydroxyapatites (HA, Ca-10(PO4)(6)(OH)(2)) were synthesized by a precipitation method from aqueous solutions of Ca(NO3)(2)4 center dot H2O for the former and Cd(NO3)(2)4 center dot H2O for the latter, by using (NH4)(2)HPO4 as the phosphate source, while pH was kept in the range of 11-12. The effect of incorporation of Cd2+ ions into the structure of HA was investigated after the air sintering at 1100 degrees C for 1 h. The results indicate that Cd2+ addition into HA yields nearly...
X-ray-induced production of gold nanoparticles on a SiO2/Si system and in a poly(methyl methacrylate) matrix
Karadas, F; Ertaş, Gülay; Ozkaraoglu, E; Suzer, S (2005-01-04)
Prolonged exposure to X-rays of HAuCl4 deposited from an aqueous solution onto a SiO2/Si substrate or into a poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) matrix induces reduction of the Au3+ ions to Au-0 and subsequent nucleation to gold nanoclusters as recorded by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The corresponding major oxidation product is determined as chlorine {HAuCl4(ads) + X-rays --> Au(ads) + (3/2)Cl-2(ads) + HCl(ads)}, which is initially adsorbed onto the surface but eventually diffuses out of the system into ...
X-ray observations of accretion powered pulsars
İnam, Sıtkı Çağdaş; Baykal, Altan; Department of Physics (2004)
In this thesis, X-ray observations of four accretion powered pulsars are presented. Using RXTE observations of 4U 1907+09, we found three new pulse periods of the source. We found that the source spun-down almost at a constant rate of Þ
X-ray powder diffraction and IR study of NaMg(H2O)(2)[BP2O8]center dot H2O and NH4Mg(H2O)(2)[BP2O8]center dot H2O
Baykal, Altan; Kniep, R (2000-09-01)
NaMg(H2O)(2)[BP2O8]. H2O was prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and was characterized by X-ray powder difraction and IR method. The title compound was synthesized from MgCl2. 6H(2)O, NaBO3. 4H(2)O, and (NH4)(2)HPO4 with variable molar ratios using hydrothermal method by heating at 165 degrees C for 3 days. The X-ray powder diffraction data was indexed in hexagonal system, the unit cell parameters were found to be as a = 9.428, c = 15.82 Angstrom, Z = 4 and the space group is P6(1)22. It is isostructural wit...
