Currently, wearable technologies are becoming more pervasive and they have several benefits fin- living in a healthy manner. In this context, the critical success factors for wearables are important. However, the existing understanding in this field needs enhancements. In our previous relevant work on the subject of success factors for wearable medical devices, we already distilled the salient factors and meaningful relationships among these factors. On the other hand, to draw additional conclusions, we recently applied partial least squares multi-group analyses with Smart PLS 3 in order to determine how degrees of relations among factors diverge concerning different groups. Explicitly, in this context, gender, body mass index category, education status, generation's category, wearable use status, activity status, and income levels of the participants were treated as different groups to detect and understand significant differences. Accordingly, we identified that there are nine prominent differences regarding degrees of relations among success factors for wearable medical devices. Our findings and interpretations particularly add to the pertinent body of knowledge about how certain relations among factors differ regarding different groups, and these outcomes are going to be valuable for relevant scholars and product developers.

Salient constructs to enhance the acceptance of wearable medical devices: An exploratory research
Değerli, Mustafa; Özkan Yıldırım, Sevgi; Department of Medical Informatics (2020)
Wearables are becoming more ubiquitous and they have many functions and benefits for healthy living and aging. In this context, the acceptance of wearable medical devices depends on user acceptance and it is vital. Yet, existing understanding in this field needs firm improvement. Hence, the main objective of this research is to distill salient constructs to enhance the acceptance of wearable medical devices. Specifically, it is chiefly aimed to identify factors, associated items, & interactions of the facto...
Exploring the factors affecting consumer intention to use wearable mobile devices to track health information
Pancar, Tansu; Özkan Yıldırım, Sevgi; Department of Information Systems (2021-9)
The popularity and usage of wearable devices is increasing as a consequence of their increasing capabilities. These devices collect various types of health related data with increasing accuracy. Collected data is used by consumers to track their own health data in addition to being used by health professionals to support medical diagnosis and treatment. This research investigates the factors affecting the adoption of wearable devices to track health information. The UTAUT2 model was used as the basis for th...
Exploring behavior change features for mobile workout applications
ÜNAL, Perin; Cavdar, Seyma Kucukozer; Taşkaya Temizel, Tuğba; Eren, Pekin Erhan; IYENGAR, Sriram (2017-08-23)
With the rapid emergence of mobile technologies in recent years, mobile health (m-health) has become fundamental to healthcare. Persuasion strategies and behavior change support features are widely used in m-health applications to increase the effectiveness of these applications on users. However, in the literature, there is a lack of research to analyze the current situation of m-health applications particularly from the perspective of behavior change approaches. In this study, the workout applications in ...
Adoption factors of health monitoring systems for smart healthcare: a systematic review
Özkan Yıldırım, Sevgi (null; 2019-04-13)
Although there have been several studies that focus on technical aspects of health monitoring systems, adoption of these systems remains largely unknown. A limited number of researches has explored the factors influencing users adoption of these systems that provide successful system implementation. In this study, we reviewed articles addresses the adoption of health monitoring systems. We extract criteria that influence the adoption decision that has been made at some stage to use health monitoring system...
Identifying critical success factors for wearable medical devices: a comprehensive exploration
Degerli, Mustafa; Yildirim, Sevgi Ozkan (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2020-10-01)
For healthy living, the successful use of wearable medical devices such as smartwatches, smart clothes, smart glasses, sports/activity trackers, and various sensors placed on a body is getting more important as benefits of these devices become apparent. Yet, the existing knowledge about the critical success factors for wearable medical devices needs to evolve and develop further. The main objective of this research is to distill salient constructs to enhance the successful use of wearable medical devices. S...
