This article aims at clarifying the contributions of present migration theories to the solution of different types of policy problems; and their sufficiency in fulfilling this aim is tested. At first a typology is developed as how the society adapts itself to the changes in the distribution of production activities as a factor input to the problem of locâtional changes of population in a society. Four interdependent adaptation processes are defined in different social systems according to the pattern of alternative organization of location choice of production process and labor. In each case the policy problems involved in the change of location of population and need for theory are emphasized. It is also shown that the theories identified as migration theories today, in reality search for solution to the problems of that appear when the entrepreneurs and the labor freely choose location in market mechanism, this being one of the four cases. It is observed that migration theories which develop in such an institutional framework give rise to hypothesis in five important problem areas.

On output independence and complementariness in rank-based multiple classifier decision systems
Saranlı, Afşar (Elsevier BV, 2001-12-01)
This study presents a theoretical analysis of output independence and complementariness between classifiers in a rank-based multiple classifier decision system in the context of the partitioned observation space theory. To enable such an analysis, an information theoretic interpretation of a rank-based multiple classifier system is developed and basic concepts from information theory are applied to develop measures for output independence and complementariness. It is shown that output independence of classi...
Empowering Critical International Theory by Applying Action Research Methodology to its Inquiry
Kurtbağ, Ömer (Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi (Ankara, Turkey), 2011-4)
This paper analyzes the influence and relevance of Gramscian and Habermasian critical international theories within the context of recent developments in the world politics that do not function in favour of these discourses’ emancipatory objectives and projections. It first looks at their emergence as alternative paradigms to the traditional conceptualizations in the discipline of IR and then compares the roots of their theoretical positions and their contribution to the analysis of international politics. ...
On the Orthogonality of q-Classical Polynomials of the Hahn Class
Alvarez-Nodarse, Renato; Adiguzel, Rezan Sevinik; Taşeli, Hasan (2012-01-01)
The central idea behind this review article is to discuss in a unified sense the orthogonality of all possible polynomial solutions of the q-hypergeometric difference equation on a q-linear lattice by means of a qualitative analysis of the q-Pearson equation. To be more specific, a geometrical approach has been used by taking into account every possible rational form of the polynomial coefficients in the q-Pearson equation, together with various relative positions of their zeros, to describe a desired q-wei...
Heideggerrian Existentialism and Post-Marxism
Ertuğrul, Kürşad (2006-01-01)
In this article, the articulation of Heideggerian existentialism to the post-Marxist theory of politics isexamined critically. With this articulation, post-Marxism aims to grant politics an ontological statusby using concepts which are detached from their philosophical context. The article argues that thisarticulation is problematic, as the theoretical and philosophical problems generated by thisincorporation remain unresolved. However, it also argues that this problematic articulation revealsth...
Structural studies of polythiophenes
Kilic, GB; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Yurtsever, E (1996-03-15)
A theoretical investigation of the electronic structures of the oligomers of thiophene (T) and their derivatives, namely, 2-methylthiophene (2MT), 3-methylthiophene (3MT), 2-cyanothiophene (2CT) and 3-cyanothiophene (3CT), are presented. The most stable forms of the monomer, dimer, trimer and tetramers are obtained by the semi-empirical quantum mechanical methodology using AM1 parametrization. All possible binding sites are investigated in order to understand the bonding in polythiophenes. The 3-substituted...
