Optimization of a regeneration and transformation system for lentil (lens culinaris M., cv. Sultan-I) cotyledonary petioles and epicotyls
Bayraç, Abdullah Tahir; Öktem, Hüseyin Avni; Department of Biotechnology (2004)
In this study, optimization of a transformation and regeneration system via indirect organogenesis in cotyledonary petiole tissue of lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) was investigated. Eight different medium types differing in their plant growth regulator compositions were employed to examine the callus induction potency of cotyledonary petiole. Except two, all other tested medium yielded more than 80% callus induction. Nine different medium types were studied to test the potencies of callus structures for sho...

Resolving the radio nebula around beta Lyrae
UMANA, G; MAXTED, P F L; TRIGILIO, CORRADO; FENDER, R P; LEONE, FRANCESCO; Yerli, Sinan Kaan (2000-06-01)
In this paper we present high spatial resolution radio images of the puzzling binary system beta Lyrae obtained with MERLIN at 5 GHz. We find a nebula surrounding the binary with a brightness temperature of (11000 +/- 700)K approximately 40 AU across. This definitively confirms the thermal origin of the radio emission, which is consistent with emission from the wind of the B6-8II component (mass loss of order of 10(-7) M.yr(-1)), ionized by the radiation field of the hotter companion. This nebula, surroundi...
Reanalysis of high-resolution XMM-Newton data of V2491 Cygni using models of collisionally ionized hot absorbers
