All rights reserved.Multilayer grid polarizers for millimeter waves produced with photolithographic technology have been simulated. Polarizers have spectral bands of enhanced performance where polarization extinction ratio in decibels grows in proportion to the number of layers. Full-wave modeling is compared with three asymptotic models for subwavelength gratings using adjusted grating parameters. Random variations of interlayer spacings reduce the enhancement of polarizing performance, yet the latter continues to grow in proportion to the number of layers. Broadband signal detection is also considered.

Dual and single color mid-wavelength infrared quantum well photodetectors
Kaldırım, Melih; Beşikci, Cengiz; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2008)
Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector (QWIP) technology is promising for the development of large format low cost single and dual/multi color infrared sensor arrays. Thanks to the mature III-V semiconductor technology, QWIP focal plane arrays (FPAs) provide high uniformity and excellent noise equivalent temperature difference (NETD) in both long wavelength infrared (LWIR 8-12 m) and mid wavelength infrared (MWIR 3-5 m) bands. This thesis work focuses on the development of large format single and dual color MW...
Dual - Band Microtrip Quasi - Yagi Antenna Design for Free Band and 5G Mobile Communication
Çelik, Feza Turgay (2018-01-01)
In this work, numerical and experimental analyses of a dual-band microstrip patch dipole-loop antenna are done. This design operates at amateur radio, amateur satellite (2.3-2.4 GHz) band and planned 5G mobile communication band; 3.4-3.8 GHz frequencies. There are two different radiating structures and regions in this antenna. One of the radiating structure is a rectangle shaped loop which is responsible for operation at lower frequency (2.3-2.4 GHz) and the other structure is a printed dipole which is resp...
Plasmonic-photonic arrays with aperiodic spiral order for ultra-thin film solar cells
Trevino, Jacob; Forestiere, Carlo; Dİ MARTİNO, Giuliana; Yerci, Selçuk; Priolo, Francesco; Dal Negro, Luca (2012-05-07)
We report on the design, fabrication and measurement of ultrathin film Silicon On Insulator (SOI) Schottky photo-detector cells with nanostructured plasmonic arrays, demonstrating broadband enhanced photocurrent generation using aperiodic golden angle spiral geometry. Both golden angle spiral and periodic arrays of various center-to-center particle spacing were investigated to optimize the photocurrent enhancement. The primary photocurrent enhancement region is designed for the spectral range 600nm-950nm, w...
High performance focal plane array technologies from short to long wavelength infrared bands
Arslan, Yetkin; Beşikci, Cengiz; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2014)
This thesis work covers the development of three different state of the art infrared sensor technologies: quantum well infrared photodetectors (QWIPs), HgCdTe sensors and extended InGaAs photodetectors. QWIP is the leading member of the quantum structure infrared photodetector family providing excellent uniformity and stability with field proven performance. The utilization of the InP/In0.48Ga0.52As multi-quantum well structure (instead of the standard AlGaAs/GaAs material system) for the implementation of ...
Frequency response function measurement and parametric SISO system modelling of a gyro-stabilized infrared electro optic gimbal system
Ozdogan, Gokhan; Leblebicioğlu, Mehmet Kemal (2016-05-01)
In this research study, a single axis (inner azimuth gimbal) of a four-axis gyro-stabilized electro optic gimbal system is modelled through experimental investigation in the frequency domain, and the results of this investigation are presented. The dynamic behaviour of the mechanical system is obtained from input and output signals, strictly speaking, nonparametric measurements. Detecting and measuring the nonlinear distortions allows a better understanding and gives an intuitive insight into the error sour...
