© 2022Herein, a novel PANI@Fe2O3@TiO2 (PANI@TF) composite containing different amounts of polyaniline was synthesized by in situ polymerization of aniline monomer in the presence of TF. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), BET surface area, Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), X-ray photoelectron (XPS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDS) were used to study the phase structure, morphology, and optical properties of the synthesized PANI@TF composites. Moreover, for the first time, the photocatalytic property of the as-synthesized PANI@TF composites has been evaluated via the decolorization of MB under sun-like illumination. The findings confirmed that all the PANI@TF ternary composites with different PANI content showed enhanced visible-light photocatalytic activity for methylene blue (MB) dye degradation compared to pure Fe2O3@TiO2. The highest degradation efficiency for MB via 1% PANI@TF ternary catalyst reached 96% after 2 h under sun-like illumination, which was 4.3 higher than TF. Finally, a plausible photocatalytic mechanism for the improved photocatalytic activity was proposed to guide further improvement of its photocatalytic performance.

Development of enhanced ultrafiltration methodologies for the resolution of racemic benzoin
Olceroglu, Ayse Hande; Çalık, Pınar; Yılmaz, Levent (Elsevier BV, 2008-09-15)
In the scope of achieving the separation of chiral molecules, enzyme enhanced ultrafiltration (EEUF), a new method based on polymer enhanced ultrafiltration (PEUF), utilizing apoenzymes as ligands, was developed. Benzoin was chosen as the model chiral molecule. Bovine serum albumin (BSA) and apo form of benzaldehyde lyase (BAL) (E.C. 4.1.2.38) were used as chiral ligands in PEUF and EEUF experiments, respectively. In order to bind to the target enantiomer well, the addition of ligand to the benzoin solution...
Development of a novel PANI@WO3 hybrid composite and its application as a promising adsorbent for Cr(VI) ions removal
Hsini, Abdelghani; Naciri, Yassine; Laabd, Mohamed; Bouzıanı, Asmae; Navío, J.A.; Puga, F.; Boukherroub, Rabah; Lakhmiri, Rajae; Albourine, Abdallah (2021-10-01)
In the current study, an in-situ oxidative polymerization method was used to synthesize polyaniline-coated tungsten trioxide biphasic composite (PANI@WO3). The as-developed composite material properties were elucidated using different characterization tools such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), N2 sorption-desorption isotherm, and X-ray photoelect...
The use of pyrolysis mass spectrometry to investigate polymerization and degradation processes of methyl amine-based benzoxazine
Bagherifam, Shahla; Uyar, Tamer; Ishida, Hatsuo; Hacaloğlu, Jale (2010-06-01)
In this study, direct pyrolysis mass spectrometry, DP-MS, was applied to investigate curing and polymerization mechanisms of phenol and methyl amine-based benzoxazine monomer, and thermal decomposition and crosslinking characteristics of the corresponding polybenzoxazine. The results indicated opposing polymerization reaction routes besides the generally accepted one. The cleavage of C-O bonds of the oxazine rings either followed by transformation into a polymer constituting ortho or para substituted phenol...
Use of Specifically Tailored Chelating Polymers for Boron Removal from Aqueous Solutions by Polymer Enhanced Ultrafiltration
Doganay, Ceren Oktar; Ozbelge, H. Onder; Bicak, Niyazi; AYDOĞAN, NİHAL; Yılmaz, Levent (Informa UK Limited, 2011-01-01)
Two selective functional polychelatogens, namely hydroxyethylaminoglycerol functioned poly(glycidylmethacrylate (PNS) and Poly(4-Vinyl-1,3-dioxalan-2-one-co-vinyl acetate) (COP) were synthesized and utilized in polymer-enhanced ultrafiltration (PEUF) to remove boron from the aqueous solution. The effect of operating parameters on boron retention was investigated. PNS was synthesized in three molecular weights to observe the effect of molecular weight in borate retention. Increase in pH increased boron reten...
Investigation of polymerization of benzoxazines and thermal degradation characteristics of polybenzoxazines via direct pyrolysis mass spectrometry
Fam, Shahla Bagheri; Uyar, Tamer; Ishida, Hatsuo; Hacaloğlu, Jale (2012-10-01)
Polymerization of benzoxazines and thermal degradation mechanisms of polybenzoxazines were investigated using the direct pyrolysis mass spectrometry (DP-MS) technique. The benzoxazine structures were based on phenol and aniline and on bisphenol-A and methylamine or aniline. Polymerizations of the benzoxazines were carried out by curing them at elevated temperatures without addition of initiator or catalyst. DP-MS data showed the presence of chains generated by opposing polymerization reaction pathways indic...
