Do interactions between eutrophication and CO2 enrichment increase the potential of elodeid invasion in tropical lakes?
Mormul, Roger Paulo; Thomaz, Sidinei Magela; Jeppesen, Erik (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2020-09-01)
Understanding the roles of eutrophication and CO2 enrichment in the invasive success of aquatic plants is an ecological challenge with relevance to climate change. We tested the hypotheses that (1) eutrophication of freshwaters increases the invasive success of the submersed aquatic plant Hydrilla verticillata; (2) CO2-enrichment makes freshwater systems more prone to H. verticillata invasion; and (3) interactions between eutrophication and CO2 enrichment increase the potential of H. verticillata invasion. ...
Do live birth rate and obstetric outcomes vary between immediate and delayed embryo transfers following freeze-all cycles?
Yildiz, Sule; Turkgeldi, Engin; Kalafat, Erkan; Keles, Ipek; Gokyer, Dilan; Ata, Baris (2021-12-01)
Research question: Do live birth rates (LBR), obstetric and perinatal outcomes vary between women who underwent frozen embryo transfer (ET) in the immediately subsequent menstrual cycle, and with those who underwent delayed frozen ET.
Do non-native languages have an effect on word order processing in first language Turkish?
Cedden, Gülay (2019-08-01)
Aims and Objectives/Purpose/Research Questions: Existing studies on sentence processing in bi-/multilinguals are typically centred on the first language (L1) influence on second language sentence processing. However, there is almost no evidence of influence in the other direction. The aim of this study is to find out whether being mono-, bi-, tri- or plurilingual has an effect on reading times (RTs) in the native language. To this end, Turkish native speakers' RTs are measured when processing Turkish canoni...
Do Global Risk Perceptions Play a Role in Emerging Market Equity Return Volatilities?
Hacihasanoglu, Erk; Simga-Mugan, F. N. Can; Soytaş, Uğur (2012-07-01)
This paper investigates whether global risk perceptions lead emerging market return volatilities. In so doing, we analyzed the period of interest in three parts to determine the effects of the changes in global risk perceptions on the volatility of emerging markets. We uncovered volatility spillover from risk perceptions to the MXEF returns before the crisis. Our results show that all the effects on emerging market volatilities are severed in 2008, during which MXEF follows a downward trend. However, we obs...
Do Base Functional Component types affect the relationship between software functional size and effort?
Gencel, Cigdem; Buglione, Luigi (2007-11-07)
One of the most debated issues in Software Engineering is effort estimation and one of the main points is about which could be (and how many) the right data from an historical database to use in order to obtain reliable estimates. In many of these studies, software size (measured in either lines of code or functional size units) is the primary input. However, the relationship between effort and the components of functional size (BFC - Base Functional Components) has not yet been fully analyzed. This study e...
