HIBIT Proceedings 2022

2022-10
ABOUT HIBIT The International Symposium on Health Informatics and Bioinformatics (HIBIT), first held in 2005, aims to bring together academics, researchers, and practitioners who work in these popular and fulfilling areas and create the much-needed synergy among the medical, biological, and information technology sectors. The HIBIT Conference Series is an international conference that brings together those working in health informatics, bioinformatics and information technology, academics, and researchers and ultimately creates the most needed synergy between the academics, health, and information technology sectors. HIBIT provides a forum for discussion, exploration, and development of theoretical and practical aspects of health informatics and bioinformatics and a chance to network between students, academia, and other stakeholders. In the rapidly developing field of bioinformatics and health informatics, the interest of undergraduate and master level, and doctoral students, is increasing. The ISCB-RSG-TR (ISCB Turkey Student Community) Satellite Sessions have been organized within the scope of HIBIT since 2012. So, HIBIT nurtures a network environment for researchers, faculty, and graduate students working in the field with an opportunity to follow the innovations and latest research in the field and to meet directly with academicians and experts from the sector, increasing their cooperation and communication. The HIBIT Conferences continue supporting the students, researchers, and academics in Health Informatics and Bioinformatics by providing an additional platform to present and disseminate their research that will further facilitate the discussions, exploration, and development of theoretical and practical aspects of health informatics and bioinformatics.

Microsystems are key enabling technologies, with applications found in almost every industrial field, including in vitro diagnostic, energy harvesting, automotive, telecommunication, drug screening, etc. Microsystems, such as microsensors and actuators, are typically made up of components below 1000 microns in size that can be manufactured at low unit cost through mass-production. Yet, their development for commercial or educational purposes has typically been limited to specialized laboratories in upper-in...
Investigating faculty technology mentoring as a university-wide professional development model
Baran, Evrim (2016-04-01)
A growing and increasingly important area of research in higher education is the investigation of how different forms of support and training programs facilitate faculty adoption of technology into pedagogical practices. This study explored the implementation of a faculty technology mentoring (FTM) program as a university-wide professional development model, focusing on the success factors and critical strategies that encourage technology adoption in faculty teaching practices. The goal of this effort is to...
Workshop on Large-Scale and Distributed Systems for Information Retrieval (LSDS-IR 2014)
Altıngövde, İsmail Sengör; Macdonald, Craig; Tonellotto, Nicola (2014-01-01)
The LSDS-IR'14 workshop aims to bring together information retrieval practitioners from industry and academic researchers concerned with efficient and distributed IR systems. The workshop also welcomes contributions that propose different ways of leveraging diversity and multiplicity of resources available in distributed systems. The main goal of the workshop is to attract people from industry and academia to present and discuss ideas, problems, and results related to the efficiency of large scale and distr...

Altıngövde, İsmail Sengör; Tonellotto, Nicola (2013-02-28)
The LSDS-IR'13 workshop aims to bring together both information retrieval practitioners from industry, as well as academic researchers concerned with efficient and distributed IR systems. The workshop also welcomes contributions that propose different ways of leveraging diversity and multiplicity of resources available in distributed systems. The main goal of the workshop is to attract people from industry and academia to present and discuss ideas, problems and results in efficiency of large scale and distr...
A Dea based sorting approach for industrial R&D projects
Aker, Pınar; Karasakal, Esra; Department of Industrial Engineering (2010)
In this study, multicriteria sorting methods based on Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) are developed to evaluate industrial Research and Development (R&D) projects proposed to Technology and Innovation Grant Programmes Directorate (TEYDEB) of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK). Even though DEA is used extensively as a multicriteria decision making (MCDM) tool for ranking; to our knowledge, this study is the first attempt utilizing DEA for sorting purpose. A five level R&D p...
