In this work, an online calibration algorithm for strapdown magnetometers is proposed. The proposed method is based on the observation that the magnetometer's measurements are on an ellipsoid manifold. The algorithm is attitude independent and makes use of Extended Kalman Filter.

Diversity Analysis of Optimal SC-FDE MIMO Systems and Comparison with OFDM Based Transmission
Güvensen, Gökhan Muzaffer; Yılmaz, Ali Özgür (2011-09-14)
In this paper, we propose a general framework for both time domain (TD) and frequency domain (FD) block iterative equalization schemes for wideband multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels. The equalization systems are designed by jointly optimizing the forward and backward filters based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion. The equivalence of block iterative TD and FD equalization with decision feedback is established by analytically showing that the same mean square error (MSE) is achieved ...
ONLINE ANOMALY DETECTION WITH CONSTANT FALSE ALARM RATE
Ozkan, Huseyin; Ozkan, Fatih; Delibalta, Ibrahim; KOZAT, SÜLEYMAN SERDAR (2015-09-20)
We propose a computationally highly scalable online anomaly detection algorithm for time series, which achieves - with no parameter tuning- a specified false alarm rate while minimizing the miss rate. The proposed algorithm sequentially operates on a fast streaming temporal data, extracts the nominal attributes under possibly varying Markov statistics and then declares an anomaly when the observations are statistically sufficiently deviant. Regardless of whether the source is stationary or non-stationary, o...
Performance improvement of a 3-D configuration reconstruction algorithm for an object using a single camera image
Özkılıç, Sibel; Platin, Bülent Emre; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2003)
Performance improvement of a 3-D configuration reconstruction algorithm using a passive secondary target has been focused in this study. In earlier studies, a theoretical development of the 3-D configuration reconstruction algorithm was achieved and it was implemented by a computer program on a system consisting of an optical bench and a digital imaging system. The passive secondary target used was a circle with two internal spots. In order to use this reconstruction algorithm in autonomous systems, an auto...
The Effect of Antenna Correlation in Single-Carrier Massive MIMO Transmission
Beigiparast, Nader; Güvensen, Gökhan Muzaffer; Ayanoglu, Ender (2018-07-20)
This work presents a single-carrier massive MIMO transmission system for the frequency selective Gaussian multi-user channel. It considers both cases of spatially uncorrelated and correlated channel and compares them in terms of the user sum-rate as well as the general performance. We consider a channel with M antennas at the base station which provides services for K single-antenna users. We develop a general expression for the achievable rate among users in the channel with a correlation among antennas at...
Multi-objective decision making using fuzzy discrete event systems: A mobile robot example
Boutalis, Yiannis; Schmidt, Klaus Verner (2010-09-29)
In this paper, we propose an approach for the multi-objective control of sampled data systems that can be modeled as fuzzy discrete event systems (FDES). In our work, the choice of a fuzzy system representation is justified by the assumption of a controller realization that depends on various potentially imprecise sensor measurements. Our approach consists of three basic steps that are performed in each sampling instant. First, the current fuzzy state of the system is determined by a sensor evaluation. Seco...
