V-S30, time-averaged shear-wave velocity over the top 30 m of the site profile is the parameter that mainly governs site response functions in ground-motion prediction equations (GMPEs). Although the use of V-S30 as a main site-response predictor parameter is practical, GMPE site adjustments to different target regions or target site conditions require characterization of the GMPE's rock-site response in terms of host V-S profiles and host kappa, kappa, values. kappa is the spectral-decay parameter which is often used to account for the reduction of the high-frequency amplitude of ground-motion that is caused by attenuation within the site profile. In this study, GMPE-specific host V-S profiles and kappa values for site conditions with V-S30 of 620 and 760 m/s are derived for Turkey. The quarter-wavelength principles are utilized in derivation of these GMPE-specific host V-S profiles and kappa values. Kale et al. (Bull Seismol Soc Am 105:963-980, 2015) and Akkar and Cagnan (Bull Seismol Soc Am 100:2978-2995, 2010) GMPEs are selected to represent regional ground-motion attenuation for Turkey.
