Turkish-Indonesian transnational marriage phenomenon has risen in recent years. A survey conducted by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Ankara in 2021 reported that various online social media act as a medium for most romantic relationship formation in the marriage market. This paper aims to investigate the phenomenon from the perspective of marriage seekers in the Indonesia-Turki Mencari Jodoh Facebook group by integrating two qualitative studies. Study 1 investigates pre-marital expectations through interviews with five Turkish-Indonesian transnational marriage seekers consisting of four Indonesian women and one Turkish man. Study 2 examines self-presentation strategies using Multimodal Discourse Analysis of 20 random posts in the group. The interviews identified several issues related to pre-marital expectations, categorized into three dimensions: intention to marry, the general attitude towards marriage, and aspects of marriage. Meanwhile, the discourse analysis reveals that most self-presentation strategies used by transnational marriage seekers accentuate the dimension of honesty by utilizing diverse visual and linguistic resources delivered in a casual style, treating viewers as equals, and inviting them to respond with a direct gaze and expressive speech acts.
