Observer based condition monitoring of an electrohydraulic actuation system
Poyraz, Emre Mura; Turgut, Ali Emre; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2019)
In this thesis study, jamming fault in an electrohydraulic actuation system which may be quite critical for aerospace applications are detected using model-based approaches. A hydraulic test setup consisting of a connected motor controlled electro hydrostatic actuation (EHA) system and a servo Proportional valve controlled load simulator system is used for the verification of the proposed fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) algorithm. Based on the system dynamics of the equipment in the test bench, mathemat...
Radar cross section analysis by shooting and bouncing rays method
Çakır, Mustafa Kağan; Tokdemir, Turgut; Department of Engineering Sciences (2015)
In this study, a MATLAB code incorporating `Shooting and Bouncing Rays (SBR) Method` is developed for calculating Radar Cross Section (RCS) of complex shapes. The code can calculate ray paths, magnetic current sheets, incident and scattered electric fields and RCS in horizontal, vertical and cross polarizations. While reflection effects are calculated by SBR algorithm, diffraction effects due to edges and corners are handled by `Equivalent Edge Currents (EEC’s)`. Wave frequency, aspect angle and number of r...
Antenna Switch Optimizations Using Genetic Algorithms Accelerated With the Multilevel Fast Multipole Algorithm
Onol, Can; Karaosmanoglu, Bariscan; Ergül, Özgür Salih (2015-07-24)
We present antenna switch optimizations using an efficient mechanism based on genetic algorithms and the multi-level fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA). Genetic algorithms are used to determine switch states for desired radiation and input characteristics, while cost-function evaluations are performed efficiently via an MLFMA implementation with dynamic error control. MLFMA is integrated into the genetic algorithm by extracting common computations to be performed once per optimization. Iterative convergence r...
Antenna Scan Period Estimation of Radars with Cepstrum and Scoring
Kalfaoglu, M. Esat; Can, Ogul; Yildirim, Berkin; Alatan, Abdullah Aydın (2019-01-01)
The performance of the cepstrum method on the radar antenna scan period estimation is evaluated. In addition, instead of relying on the cepstrum estimation directly, a two-block algorithm is proposed by adding a scoring block to make the estimation more reliable. Cepstrum is compared with zero-padded Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), zero-padded periodogram and Pulse Repetition Interval (PRI) transform. Cepstrum has been observed to be superior in six of the seven groups in the radar data set with respect to pe...
