Microstructure and mechanical properties of FeCrAl alloys under heavy ion irradiations
Aydoğan Güngör, Eda; Maloy, S. A.; El-Atwani, O.; Wang, Y. Q.; Mara, N. A. (2018-05-01)
FeCrAl ferritic alloys are excellent cladding candidates for accident tolerant fuel systems due to their high resistance to oxidation as a result of formation of a protective Al2O3 scale at high temperatures in steam. In this study, we report the irradiation response of the 10Cr and 13Cr FeCrAl cladding tubes under Fe2+ ion irradiation up to similar to 16 dpa at 300 degrees C. Dislocation loop size, density and characteristics were determined using both two-beam bright field transmission electron microscopy...

Microstructural properties and local atomic structures of cobalt oxide nanoparticles synthesised by mechanical ball-milling process
AKSOY, FUNDA; AKGÜL, GÜVENÇ; Kurban, Mustafa (Informa UK Limited, 2016-01-01)
In this study, facile preparation of pure and nano-sized cobalt oxides particles was achieved using low-cost mechanical ball-milling synthesis route. Microstructural and morphological properties of synthesised products were characterised by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. XRD results indicated that the fabricated samples composed of cubic pure phase CoO and Co3O4 nanocrystalline particles with an average crystallite size of 37.2 and 31.8nm, respectively. TEM im...

Microstructural and magnetic characterization of iron precipitation in Ni-Fe-Al alloys
DUMAN, Nagehan; Mehrabov, Amdulla; Akdeniz, Mahmut Vedat (Elsevier BV, 2011-06-01)
The influence of annealing on the microstructural evolution and magnetic properties of Ni(50)Fe(x)Al(50-x) alloys for x=20, 25, and 30 has been investigated. Solidification microstructures of as-cast alloys reveal coarse grains of a single B2 type beta-phase and typical off eutectic microstructure consisting of proeutectic B2 type beta dendrites and interdendritic eutectic for x=20 and x>20 at.% Fe respectively. However, annealing at 1073 K results in the formation of FCC gamma-phase particles along the gra...
