A Formal Methods Approach to Pattern Recognition and Synthesis in Reaction Diffusion Networks
Bartocci, Ezio; Aydın Göl, Ebru; Haghighi, Iman; Belta, Calin (2018-03-01)
We introduce a formal framework for specifying, detecting, and generating spatial patterns in reaction diffusion networks. Our approach is based on a novel spatial superposition logic, whose semantics is defined over the quad-tree representation of a partitioned image. We demonstrate how to use rule-based classifiers to efficiently learn spatial superposition logic formulas for several types of patterns from positive and negative examples. We implement pattern detection as a model-checking algorithm and we ...
A stochastic approach in reserve estimation
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2006-12-01)
Geostatistics and more especially stochastic modeling of reservoir heterogeneities are being increasingly considered by reservoir analysts and engineers for their potential in generating more accurate reservoir models together with usable measures of spatial uncertainty. Geostatistics provides a probabilistic framework and a toolbox for data analysis with an early integration of information. The uncertainty about the spatial distribution of critical reservoir parameters is modeled and transferred all the wa...
A continuous path planning approach on Voronoi diagrams for robotics and manufacturing applications
Özcan, Melih; Yaman, Ulaş (2019-01-01)
Coverage of an area is required for a large variety of robotics and manufacturing applications, such as environment monitoring, home cleaning, search and rescue operations, machining, delivery, additive manufacturing and even for 3D terrain reconstruction. In this work, we present highly flexible algorithms that can be used for coverage and graph traversal. Although our methods take advantage of variable-sized Voronoi cells, by which regular, irregular and complex geometries can be easily composed, it is no...

A metrics-based approach to the testing process and testability of object-oriented software systems
Yurga, Tolga; Doğru, Ali Hikmet; Department of Information Systems (2009)
This dissertation investigates the factors that affect testability and testing cost of object- oriented software systems. Developing a software program which eases the testing process by increasing testability is crucial. Also, to assess whether or not the testing effort and cost consumed or planned is adequate or not is another critical matter this dissertation aims to answer by composing a new way to evaluate the links between software design parameters and testing effort via source-based metrics. An auto...
