Kaya, Melike
This thesis examines the access to sexual and reproductive health services for Syrian women under temporary protection in Türkiye through Migrant Health Centers. Using Levesque, Harris, and Russel's (2013) framework of healthcare access, it intersectionally examines the supply and demand sides of the healthcare access process and analyzes how structural cultural and interpersonal barriers shape access to sexual and reproductive health services. Although Migrant Health Centers stand out as relatively more inclusive and patient-oriented facilities, offering significant advantages in terms of language, location, and cultural adaptation, barriers to access persist due to negative attitudes, bureaucratic obstacles, and structural problems within the centers. Drawing on legal and policy documents and the interviews with representatives of non-governmental organizations, the thesis highlights how systemic inequalities and intersecting vulnerabilities marginalize Syrian women under temporary protection. In conclusion, the thesis advocates for a holistic and intersectional approach to healthcare access and suggests that structural reforms should be combined with efforts to combat social exclusion.
