Improving maths teacher training; Mathematics has provided the foundations on which all science branches were built and developed. As such, mathematics is and will continue to be an important field of scientific research and education. This creates a need for more efficient and better trained mathematics teachers, a need which has not thus far been met. The EU-funded MaTeK project aims to change this. It will focus on developing and improving the Department of Mathematics Education of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Comenius University in Bratislava. The actions the project will take towards this goal will provide the department with the opportunity to improve their practice by cooperating with other successful mathematics departments in various other universities.
